[More] Am an Army vet, having worked as a German translator for M.I., when the "Wall" was still up betw. East & West Germany. Primary occupation has been RN (psychiatric & geriatric), since 1975. I have taken breaks from that, e.g. when I joined the Army and also when I went back to school to get a BS in German.
At present I am and will be permanently disabled, secondary to a near fatal MVA in 1997. Of all the broken bones that I received then, the 1 in my (L) arm(humerus) never healed and is broken clean through.I have had 2 surgeries in which a plate and then a rod were inserted. Both times the screws fell out! Right now ,1 of the screws is floating around my arm and just recently moved down into a position where it is almost on a nerve. This SEVERELY limits how much movement I have, because if I turn my hand just the tiniest bit in the wrong direction, I get this bolt of electricity shooting through my arm and hand that is EXCRUCIATING! It is the same feeling as a dentist drilling into a tooth and the nerve without novocaine but keep on drilling! I fell in Sept. and rebroke the same bone when the rod pushed through it and came out the opposite end, this time...near my elbow. I now have to endure a 3rd surgery!
