I just had part of my left styloid bone removed yesterday. I was having massive pain in my throat and had two problems - 1) calcified tonsil stones causing tonsil-crypt tonsillitis and 2) potential eagles symdrome. I told my ENT surgeon to go ahead and take out the offending styloid bone if he noticed it jabbing out when he did the tonsillectomy. He did it intra-orally. He sawed off the end of the bone (1.5 CM worth). So far so good. I'm pretty sore from the surgery but I'm hoping this fixes the thoat pain. My surgeon was awesome and has done this styloid procedure a lot.
