About Me: Male, 66, Tucson - AZ, member since May 2008
Just moved to Tucson in February. Just sold home in Grand Rapids, MI last week. Spent a year & a half getting home ready to sell while husband was working & living in AZ. Started having what felt like panic attacks...not disabling but worrysome. Also realized husband

[More] not taking care of diabetes & 2 heart stents. Figured I would come here to relax & then get knee replaced& get everyone back on program of health. On my way to getting my knee replaced, they sent me for MRI of breasts...have been diagnosed with bilateral LCIS about 16 years ago. Biopsies came back with ductal atypical hyperplasia in both breasts. In July I am having a double mastectomy,
Anyway about 5 years ago I had a false positive on a stress test (I also for years have had inverted "t' waves on ekg). Underwent a catherization which ruled out blockages & allowed me to continue with knee surgery. (When I went for presurgery appt with doctor...nurse said 'you had a heart attack'...I DID NOT...I said I thought I would have noticed this! Anyway this is how I wound up getting catherization that ruled out heart problems.
With the current past year stress, my BP started rising 150 to 160 over 90's even before the breast biopsies. Put on Diovan 80mg =heart racing, felt like panic attack, had to quit. Tried Norvasc 5mg & that gave me terrible diarhea (I have colitis). Next was Atenol (tenormin) 25 mg about 4 days ago. Seems to work fine, but noticed that stomach starting to not feel well & this am particularly awful. When I took BP it was 127/75...pulse=54. Face feels hot/flushed.Doctor had said it shouldn't be below 60. Not sure what to do. I need to be on something to keep BP down to be able to have surgery July 1. Oh & next week I have to have a chemical stress test (only because my knees will not allow me to do it the way I want!)
Generally I feel pretty healty & young for 65yr old. Am starting a 'Mind/Body' class to calm down. I also have a stomach ulcer not cured w antibiotics.
