If I remember correctly this was actually a small male, about 7 or 8 lbs. We get females in that weigh 13 lbs. They are fun to work with. Did you know eagles make snorting sounds? When you hear a scream on TV with an eagle in view, the sound is actually from a Red Tailed hawk.

Saw your note. This little owl is one that came into the place where I work. Sawwhets are sweet little owls unlike some of the bigger owls that love to bite. I'm happy to say this little one was released back to the wild. I wish every animal had such a happy ending.
