About Me: Female, 56, El Paso - TX, member since May 2008
I am a 56 year old woman, married with children, grandchildren, and one great grandchild. I am a professional Technical Writer/Editor. This site caught my interest because I have been dealing with MS like symptoms off and on for about 18 years. Except for my GP who is c ... [More] onvinced that it is MS, neurologist have basically treated me as one person in this community wrote in a comment . . . “like a nut looking for a disease.” I am seeing a neurologist soon because a number of my symptoms have worsen lately. But with my GP’s support I am trying not to give up hope. I hope this community can help.

Update: After all the test I was dx'd with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy. Been on my medication for a while and it has really helped. A neurosurgen thinks I may need spine surgery for the problems I have been having with my gate and balance. My spine is in 'not so good' shape. But, I will put that off until I get a second opinion. Wow! A great neurologist! I've heard they exist..:o) I'm so glad you found one, with good assistants, too! I guess I can't come to Texas to see yours, but I'm sure I'll find a good one someday. I'm so happy for you, to have someone helping you find answers, and to believe in you; good stuff! Kathy

I just read your About Me; I find it amazing how many bad doctors there are out there! I believe we roast the bad ones over a pit on Fridays (virtually, of course). Actually that's just a joke that helps release the frustration and anger, but it's one that pops up often. So many of us have had rotten experiences and understand. You're in good company. I'm glad you have a good GP, that really helps. I have a great one that I've been seeing for 10 years. Take care, Kathy

I'm curious about how your neurologist's visit went. Please let us know when you get a chance. I've had one really bad neuro, and my current one is questionable. I see her tomorrow, and that will be when I decide if I move on to another. I have spent years trying to get answers about what's going on with my body, but only had a brain MRI with lesions in Feb. of this year that started me on the neurologist path. I already know how tough it can be. I hope you had a good experience. Kathy
