About Me: Female, 39, Sykesville - MD, member since May 2008
My 52 year old Aunt was diagnosed with Boman's Cancer on her nose last year and was prescribed Aldara cream to treat it. Since that time she has been suffering several unexplained symptoms which has become more severe as weeks pass. Upon investigation into the Aldara cr...
[More]eam, it has been discovered that ALL her symptoms are directly related to this treatment. I was horrified to learn that thousands of people's lives, who were prescribed this drug, have been forever altered. I understand that every drug has side effects to a certain degree, but the doctors giving out these drugs should know and understand the drugs they are giving out. In my Aunts case, the FDA never approved this drug to be used on the face, yet her doctor did just that. Now she suffering, what looks like, third degree burns on the tops of her arms, which is spreading weekly over her body. She has went to get second opinions because the pain is agonizing, only to be told that she needs to talk to the Dermatologist treating her. He claims she has Lupis (which is a side effect of Aldara) and sent her to a Lupis specialist, releasing her from his care. The Lupis specialist says the only thing to rid her of her symptoms is steriods and she can't take them. I am overwhelmed with frustration at the lack of help from the Doctors we have been to, and the agony of feeling helpless to relieve any of my Aunts pain. I am waiting for her heart to finally give out from all the stress it's been under.
If anyone has had similar experiences or know's of any doctors who specialize in treating side effects of Aldara, please forward their information to me. I don't care how far I have to travel... I just want some relief for my Aunt.
