I have lately been suffering from a large gastroesophageal hiatal hernia for about a month now and scheduled to have surgery soon but unsure if this is the right step to take. It is going to be a laproscopic surgery to bring my herniated stomach back into place. My question is can I live with this condition by improving my eating habits (which are pretty good) and loosing about forty pounds? The CT scan said I have a hernia where the stomach slides next to the chest. I was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia about three years ago but have had it under control with medication called Protonix and have been fine. The problem with stomach just sprung up recently.and has caused me to feel very sick such as a nausea feeling and indegestion and only feels better when eat more frequently and smaller portions.
