I have noticed that my ears "fill up" much as they do when one is flying on an airplane or in some situation involving a disturbance in the air pressure. The problem is that this happens suddenly to me when I am on level ground, or even when I am only driving up my street, which is not exactly an elevated location. The sensation comes and goes, i.e., it may last for a couple days and not recur for a months. In addition, my nose constantly feels as if the passages are burning, and my throat is scratchy often. I thought it might be a seasonal allergy but this originated back in the winter. I have tried a saline spray, but a family doctor tells me that the spray is useless--that all they really do is moisten the insides of your nose and don't affect the sinuses.
