I have had this so long that it seems to be effecting my thinking seems like im thinking slower than usual and sometimes i get this feeling like im losing control on the right side of my face. I have a deviated septum, right side of nose gives me the most trouble,I am tired a lot, early last year i had staph infection of the adnoids, but doc wouldnt take them out- really small adnoids and thought it would do more harm than good. besides my green mucous I also bring up tonsil stones and have bad breath. please help! thank you . | ch/gh 5/28/2006 | . |
| Tonsilloliths are created in the nooks and crannies of the tonsils. They are made up of old dead cells form the oral mucosa, slaiva, food, and bacteria. They creat irregular white "stones" that smell really really bad. The only way to absolutely rid yourself of these is to get your tonsils out. In the meantime, you can gargle with salt water, which would be about 1 teaspoon of salt to a quart of water and gargle 3 times each day. You could use a mouthwash called Alkalol which is salt water and aromatic extracts. Most mouthwash has sugars in it that can contrubute to manufacture of the stones and should be avoided. You can also go to a dentist that has the equipment to "spray out" or wash the tonsils. Since you are having a green mucous, that usually indicates an infection or an inflammation, you can take anti-biotics to "settle down" the tonsils. If you take antibiotics, talk to your doctor about also taking probiotics to keep your intestional bacteria replenished. Hope this helps. | star queen 5/29/2006 |

| Oil of oregano is from the mint family and is supposed to help all sorts of intestional problesm from yeast to IBS. There is no scientific evidence that it does. Like all things in Alternative medicine, it will work for some and not for others. The body is covered with bacteria inside and out. Some are good and others are bad. They all have their purpose. When antibiotics are used on the skin or taken as a medicine, it kills off all the bacteria it comes into contact with. The good and the bad. When the good and bad bacteria get "out of balance" the other one takes over. For example, if you have a cold, and you take an antibiotic, and the bacteria that keeps yeast under control is killed off, then the yeast just grows and grows and you have a yeast infection. Until the bacteria grows back, the yeast will continue to cause problems. Probiotics are foods and supplements that contain live bacteria or promote growth of bacteria in the body. When you eat probiotic foods, like yogurt, that contain live bacteria, it helps to replenish (grow) the needed bacteria in the body so that you can better fight infections and illness caused by the lack of bacteria. Using soaps, shampoos, and body products that contain antibiotics kill off all bacteria on the skin and hair that protect you from invading bacteria and viruses putting you "at risk" for more illnesses and skin problems. These products encourage bacteria to become immune to certain antibiotics making it more difficult to kill the "bad bacteria" that invades the body. Hope this helps | star queen 5/30/2006 |

| Antibiotic in products are always on the label, so diligent reading of labels is very important. There are alot of pro-biotic supplements out there. We are not allowed on this site to recommend any, but you can talk with your health care provider or a licensed (in some states there are certificate programs) alternative medicine person in the local health food/vitamin stores for assistance. Good luck | star queen 6/1/2006 |
