| I have an 8 yr old son who has had various complaints over the last several months that seem to come and go. His main complaints are of weakness, headaches, stomachaches, with occasional complaints of leg pain, chest pain, shortness of breath. He has also had a chronic dry cough and decreased appetite some of the time. He also has been experiencing periods of sadness, anxiety and fearfulness. I took him to the doctor last week and he ran some tests on his blood. All was normal except the neutrophils were low at 32.1 and the lymph was high at 56.1 and the ASO titer was very high at 756. The pediatrician recommending sending him to a pediatric neurologist and possibly starting him on antibiotics. My questions are; should we re-test him, check a throat culture for strep (He was tested 4 wks ago and it was negative) send him to a cardiologist to r/o rheumatic fever or just wait and see if his levels go down? Please help me so I know which direction to go! Thank you!! | cyndrewski 7/20/2006 | . |
