.I need some direction -

I have constant rhinitis and have developed hissing in my ears over past few months. ENT doctor says basically 'learn to live with it and relax' but offered no help and only tested hearing. Noise is worse on days when sinuses are runny with clear liquid. Makes me very fatigued and sleepy all day.

I get hives on abdomen when this occurs and have for past 28 years since my first pregnancy. I have always thought it was hormone-related. Any suggestions on antihistimine I could try? Took myself off of Walmart's version of Actifed when they changed the formula and took pseudophedrine and hydrochloride out and substituted other ingredients. Thought perhaps that was my problem but obviously not. Think I will try brand-name Actifed again but they make you feel like a criminal buying it any more!

Thanks for any help someone can offer.

.Decongestants are good for reducing mucosal edema and swelling. While pseudoephidrine did have some efficacy in the acute stages of allergy attacks, Phenylephrine, its replacement does not appear to be as effective.

I would consider antihistamines instead. Claritin over the counter is one suggestion.

The post nasal drip from your allergies appears to be running down your throat close to the eustatian tubes. This is a possible cause of the sounds you are hearing.
