.Hello everyone! First at all I don't mean to be gross but I am really worried.
I am 22 weeks pregnant and a few days ago I started to notice that my underwear feels very humid to the touch and it has a strong odor, my underwear does not look stained or anything else, is just the strong smell plus the fact that my underwear is damp. Has anyone experienced this before? am I Leaking the amniotic fluid? should I rush to the doctor?? Please help!!

.Amniotic fluid is virtually odorless. Sometimes it has a vaguely sweet smell. (Both labours my water broke and then the contractions started about 1/2 hour later).

Does it smell like ammonia? Lots of women have a little problem with urine leaking during pregnancy.

Or it just may be lots of discharge. I would mention it on your next appointment.

.yes, it actually smells like ammonia. That is why I am freaking out. Baby is moving, I feel fine, but very nervous.

nana Then you are probably experiencing mild loss of bladder control. Unpleasant I know, I have it on and off when I am pregnant.

.Ok girls! I just came back from my doctor's appointment and he did an internal exam and he told me that my water did not brake and my cervix was closed. He also did a sonogram and the fluid level is normal. Baby has plenty of fluid. He came to the conclusion that it is urine. It looks that my bladder is letting some pee leak. Thank you for all your support and I hope this helps the girls that are going thru the same.

.That's great news! I'm glad everything is alright! I'm 14 weeks 3 days so I know how nerve wracking everything can be! Best of luck, and you are in my thoughts and prayers for a healthy and safe pregnancy.

nana's mum I am glad you got good news. If it continues, buy some light incontinence pads.
They are softer than sanitary products. In fact I use them post partum as well.

By the way, the pee problem only gets worse. With my last pregnancy it became a family game to see who could make mummy laugh (and pee).

nana's mommy Thank you Nana, it is good to know I didn't offend. For me, I was never very religious till I had to have surgery to remove an ovary when I was 12 weeks 5 days pregnant.

.Thanks, guys. Your post helped. I've been having some pains and then smelled the ammonia... afraid it might have been something. Sad to know what it really is, though. I guess if it gets worse, I'll have to try the incontenence pads :P So fuuny what we go through for pregnancy!
