| Tony4401 7/24/2007 | . | I currently have hepatitis C. I did not take care of myself for some time and continued to drink alcohol. In addition, I suffer from PTSD and my doctor has me on Xanax. One night a had a a couple of glasses of wine and the next day found I still felt dizzy. I went to the doctor the next morning and 12 hours after having this wine tests found I still had alcohol in my blood. The ER discharged me without any other comments on this. I have since quit drinking because this really scared me, is it possible my liver could be so bad it did not metabolize the alcohol as it would in a person without liver damage? |
| frijole 7/25/2007 C1 | tony | I think you have properly assessed the situation. I have always been a casual/ social or whatever you call it drinker. I no longer drink because of the hep C but my observations were --- I used to be able to drink whatever I wanted with the normal hangover but several years ago noticed that I could drink two drinks (preference Margaritas) without any morning after effect. Then a few years back I noticed that those 2 margaritas did seem to take a little longer to clear out in the morning. Switched to beer (Coronas, slightly frozen with a half lime - aaahh good memory) but still only two. With 3 I could feel it distinctly in the morning. So yes, I firmly believe that you can tell when your liver has lost some of its ability to clear the poisons from your system. The liver is the only organ able to regenerate, yet, I belive, the constant assault from the virus keeps it from doing its job. Have you noticed any other symptoms? Are you treating?
