Although you might think you’re handling clean clothes when you transfer wet laundry from the washer to dryer, think again: The average load of laundry contains 100 million E. coli bacteria, and each undergarment harbors about 0.1 grams of fecal matter. Only hot water cycles, disinfecting bleach and an immediate and complete dry cycle on high temperature can reduce germs in your laundry. Launder heavily soiled clothes separately, and always wash your hands in between loads of laundry.
