As if its status as a tropical paradise wasn't enough, Honolulu also has some of the cleanest air in the U.S. Since Honolulu is part of an island, air pollution can't get trapped because ocean winds blow it away. Honolulu also lacks heavy, air-polluting industry. Still, being one of the cleanest cities is surprising considering it ranks as the second most traffic congested city in the U.S. after Los Angeles and is home to volcanoes that spew out toxic gases.
