The scent of lavender may help ease insomnia, migraine pain and dementia-related agitation. “Finely chop [lavender flowers] in a food processor, add to almond oil or avocado oil and massage into feet and skin at night to help induce sleep,” said Christine Dionese, L.Ac, MSTOM, an integrative health specialist, medical and food journalist, and co-founder of Garden Eats, an organic, edible landscaping consultancy. Applying a mixture of lavender, rosemary, thyme and cedarwood oils to the scalp may improve hair growth to treat a type of hair loss (alopecia areata). 

Care Tip: “French lavender may be less aromatic than Spanish or English, but is best for growing indoors in a sun-filled location of the house,” Dionese said. Let soil dry between each watering.
