I realize this is just going to be another journal that nobody reads, apparently with one exception...   You.  Thank you for visiting!

I'm not overly obese nor do i have any particular health concerns other than mild asthma and a desire to NOT follow in my parents footsteps in many ways.  The smoked, ate horrible diets, did no exercising or activities to speak of.  My dad passed away when he was 51, my mom when she was in her mid 50's.  I was 19 when we lost dad and in my mid/late 20's when mom left.  Heart disease for him and hypertension, diabetes, COPD for her (metabolic complex, likely).  I don't smoke and think those that do are flipp'n honest to G-d idiots.

I've been in very excellent shape over my adulthood at times.  I've done the Body for Life thing twice, excellent results both times and was so NOT ashamed to be outside shirtless!   I spent years jogging, and up till about 10 years ago I was doing 10k's for fun.  Even won a seeded position at our Corporate Cup run one year.  Of course, turned my ankle on a morning run two weeks before it, so....  Anyway, not much running since.  Got lazy.

Gained weight, maybe 30 lbs or so.  Sluggish, again.  Yeah, like I said, I've done this before.  My pants don't fit and had to get larger sizes.  I now cannot even hardly button the jeans by themselves that I once wore an IWB holster with!

I've been at this now for a couple of weeks.  About two months ago I was over 200 lbs, and considering my height that's a lot of excess cargo!  I ditched an extremely stressful job with long hours and only about 10 hours off a day, working up to 14 hours and stressed.  No quality home time.  I can tell you, despite my previous scoffing at the idea of stress hormones being a precursor/assist for weight gain, that being stressed causes a myriad of problems!  In the four weeks after the job being tossed I lost about 6 lbs, not doing anything much at all toward such.  Honestly, stress/low quality & low quantity rest is a horrible thing.

So from just over 200 lbs down to about 198 or so when starting this particular journey toward better health and fitness.  Just lost 3 lbs this past week alternating cardio days and weight training days.  At my age (52) it's best to let two days go between intense weight training days so I do cardio for a day or two between.  Take long walks some evenings as well.  Eating...  Small meals about 5 or 6 a day, every three or four hours.  Between 10 and 20 grams of lean protein and carbs with it but not too much.  Plenty of heart healthy fats like olive oil, fish oil, "Balance" butter and PB, soy lecithin, etc.  Supplements:  A daily vit/mineral, Co-Q10, trace mineral, fish oil, green tea extract (& drinking green tea all day), soy lecithin, chromium picolinate, selenium, vit E with mixed tocopherols and tocotrienols, red yeast rice, whey protein powder and a whole host of other things that are nutrition related more so than for weight loss.  ...No magic fat burners or other expensive nonsense.  Boring, isn't this?  I do have 7-keto (100mg that will be used 2x/day) when I hit the inevitable rut.  My wife just went on it now.

Ok, for anyone still reading this you'd better get a life.  hehe...   Anyway, wish me luck and wish luck to those especially who have serious obesity to fight, conditions that are mountainous to overcome and issues they need to deal with.  Pray for them, be considerate of them and wish them well.  ...Karma, ya know.

Till next time, God bless you and yours and keep safe.  G'day and G'lock!
