Some researchers believe that certain individuals may have a biological or genetic predisposition to panic attacks. A family history, for instance, could make it more likely that someone will experience a panic attack. It does not, however, necessarily determine that someone will definitely experince panic attacks. Even if a person is vulnerable to panic attacks, the right environmental circumstances still have to trigger an attack.
