Connie, I don't know if you come here anymore...I hope you are doing well...I think we both can smile again now while we remember our darlings...I just replied to someone asking for help with their dog and it brought back the sense of helplessness and loss...but I was able to look back on my time with Cooke and laugh and smile at some of the memories. Hope you are healed and happy too...
Just a quick note to say hi! Thanks for the note, and the work with Jasper goes on.. still not fully house trained. He will have been with us two weeks next Monday. Hope we make it by then. He is indeed a short haired-something, Chihuahua looking but big and with a curly tail.. expressive tail. it curls up on his back, sort of up/back and at time with a strange (to me) arc at the root with the tip pointing at the ground. I think that may be body language, but i haven't translated it all yet. His poop dance if very truncated/absent, but his tail arc may be part of the set-up, but not always.
Just a quick note to say hi! Thanks for the encouraging notes on Jasper - seeing the picture and your experience, does he look like a big Chi, or really a mix? He doesn't have the rounded head so much in my mind's eye for a chi. My daughter said looking at the web picture he looks like a white fox :) He weighs out here at about 10 pounds so he has lost weight in his time at the shelter - not a criticism of that group.
Whenever you can or feel up to it, Connie, that would be great. Tony Xxx
I have begun the Group ... Chronic Kidney Failure in Dogs under the Pets category. I'm hoping you will be a key member, so please rush on over and sign-up. Much love, Tony
Just a quick note to say hi! A note to ask to added me to your "friend list"... I think this is how it works. We often take care of a neighbor's two dogs, some times for a week at a stretch. The dogs are familiar with the neighborhood and are much happier here than they would be at a kennel. Thus we have only one "family do" Wilson.
Just a quick note to say hi! Thank you
Everything is fine. Have three dogs now. Picked up a Golden Retriever last spring puppy and named him Ted.
He gets along great with Corky and Sissy the Yorkies. Alway will miss Jack my dog who I could not save
from his sickness. I think this place really kept me from total dispair during the dark last days of 2011. In the
darkness of winter I still think of him and so many things remind me of how happy a dog he was most the
time. Hope everyone here is doing well. Looking forward to Spring 2013. Will post a pic of Ted soon.
Connie, Just checking on you. Hadn't seen you post in a long while. Hope everything's ok!
Hi Connie. I know you are thinking about TwoBits, as it has been a year now ... and I'm sure you are feeling dreadfully sad at reaching this anniversary, as it will bring so many things back to the surface. But you know, the legacy of TwoBits is all the wonderful support you have given to so many people on here (me included). I won't go on (you have my letter for lengthy blurb), I just wanted to send you a hug from your friend across the pond ... Tony xxx
I hope you are better...
chiquita566 wrote to me asking for help with her dog (CKD). I have replied to her and am happy to help her as much as I can, but wanted to know if she could be redirected to the earlier thread, so that she has access to all the advice that was available there..
Thanks a lot for your help.
Hi Connie. Hope you are well ... I know you've been busy, so no need to reply. Gary's 40th went well, then we had his parents here for a week, so it's been a bit hectic here as well. Tonight ... my first night for ages when it's just me and Giro ... sheer bliss! Ha. Loads of love to you and yours. Tony xxx
Thank you Connie for support and kindness. I very much appreciate it. Sylvie X
all the best to you and yours
Thanks Connie......Happy New Year to you and yours (Including Creatures), too.....May this be a good one! Karla
Wishing you and all your family a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Hi Connie. I've put a new photo up of my last cuddle with Ripa before he went back home. Him and Giro got along so well, he's going to be missed by both of us (till next time he comes for his seaside holiday). Gary is already talking of us visiting the rescue home, but I do feel it's just a bit too early for me just yet. I'm still grieving for BB and need to get beyond the tears first. Hope your Christmas Day went well and my best wishes to you and yours for 2012. Tony xxx
Thank you Connie for reaching out and comfort in my loss of Jack. I wish you all the best..
Thank You Connie.....Merry Christmas from my house to yours, too....I left a comment under the picture of your Christmas Tree....Thank you for joining us here on Medhelp....You sure are an asset!
I hope you & your family (Including Creatures) have a delightful Holiday with all the trimmings.....I must get back to Cooking.....I'm working on the Dressing, now! :) Peace from Oklahoma.......Sincerely, Karla
Hope you have a fab Christmas Connie ... and here's wishing you the very best for 2012. Lots of love, Tony xxx
Wishing you and your family a very happy and peaceful Christmas! From me and Misty :-)
Thanks Connie. The deed is done. I held things together until I got out of the vets, then became extremely emotional. I had walked the mile and a half to the vets (I don't drive, so walking is my usual transportation) - and then walked back to the house. It felt like, strange, like it was my final walk with BB. I got BB 12yrs ago with my ex-partner (we were together 26yrs, before everything fell apart), who now has Ripa the greyhound that we are looking after. He comes back Christmas Eve, and has already asked if he and Ripa can stay till Christmas Day, when we can all go and scatter BBs ashes on the beach, where she loved to run. All in all it's going to be a very emotional day, but a nice send-off for my beautiful girl with me, my ex-partner and current partner, Giro and Ripa. Tony x
i will post pic of nan in near future
all the best colin
Just a quick note to say hi! I'm OK Connie, thanks for checking in on me. I realize I cannot change the past.
I can only go on. I think people in general try to recreate things that made them so happy in their lives. Jack
was always there for me, when I was down or happy. He was always being loyal good friend. I plan to
save another dog someday, but for now I will miss Jack and move forward with the good things in my
life like family and freinds.
Hi Connie. I'll look up the post you mention and leave a comment. Thanks for your continued support and for your remarkable empathy and understanding. Big hug, Tony
No need for thanks, Connie...While each of our own dogs is certainly irreplaceable, I think these are such wonderful creatures whose innate nature - their "dogginess" is so admirable and lovable...It is therefore much easier to empathize with another dog-parent. I have all of Cookie's things in their place - even her water bowl (with water in it) because I find it possible to come home only if I can imagine she is still around...But I am also incredibly thankful that she was not the last dog in the world, and someday I will have another who will bring back some of her to my life, while being uniquely itself too.
Part of my sticking around is also because of wonderful and sympathetic people like you who helped my Cookie and me in the end- Thank You...
Thank you! The cats name is Bailey (aka Puss Puss)
Is the group still functional- I dont see any posts after my last one... Is everyone OK?
Connie, Thank you.
I really appreciate your being so helpful and caring for both the dogs and owners who write- I don't know if I would have the strength to do what you do after Cookie leaves me.
Connie, thank you so much for your very kind words! I really enjoy being a Community Leader here at the MedHelp Dogs Community and it makes it all so worthwhile when people like yourself let us know that what we do makes a difference! Have a great weekend!
