Hello ... I read your post on the Breast Cancer Forum; I usually only answer on the Community Forum but since you had some questions regarding breast biopsy I thought I would contact you. There are several types of breast biopsy, some involving only taking a sample of tissue with a needle under some type of X=ray guidance. These procedures are done in the Radiology Dept. and are relatively simple. At times a surgical biopsy is recommended which is done in the Surgery Dept. thru a small incision. All are outpatient procedures and cause few complications; some swelling, bruising and discomfort are quite common. Best wishes to you are your wife.
