Thank you for everything! I am feeling a little better about it all now. My boss had his friend re-read and he is telling me that the are convinced it is benign. I will see the surgeon tomorrow and request a biopsy / or removal and biopsy just mainly so I don't have to worry anymore. Thanks for checking in on me. What did they do for the second? I assume surgery? So they cannot FNA on a solid? Wow, good to know. Thanks again Laura! ~Kim

Just a quick note to say hi!
I am now up to 105 mg (90 in the am & 15 in the afternoon). My endo says that 90mgs is equal to 100 mcg of synthroid, which is what I did fairly well on until she upped me to 125mcg and Levoxyl in January--went very hyper in April/May w/hospital visit--TSH .37. Went down to .50 mcg of Synthroid for 5 weeks and went very hypo--tsh 28. Started out with 60mg of Armour--at my choosing because I was afraid of too much, too fast. Then upped to 90mg per the dr two weeks later. Upped 15 mg by myself and haven't told her yet--but my body needed it. My hypo symptoms are getting better, but I still have the neck/upper back aches and pains and hypo feelings in my upper arms in the evening. I look forward to just being stabilized again.

I am feeling ok I guess (thanks for asking!!) Not great, not terrible. When I read some of the other peoples posts, I feel fortunate that I am not bedridden etc. I am always tired, and never want to do anything because of it. With a very social hubby and 3 children, it is hard to get through life sometimes. The brain fog is so frustrating, because I am in a job where I really need to focus. I know my bosses have noticed, little comments here and there. They dont know about my hashi's. I dont want them to get rid of me because they may be afraid I cant concentrate enough. So I muddle through. I really was excited to start this Armour, so far, no noticeable change. The way my endo was talking it up, I thought I would have this surge of energy and weight loss. Oh well...

Just a quick note to say hi!
How are you feeling with your 15mg increase? I hope you are feeling better. I don't think my doc understands the frequency of increases with Armour either, but I will be armed with internet information when I talk to her about it. I may be ready for another 15mg increase this coming Saturday and will probably call the dr this week to discuss it. I don't want to experience the symptoms (hypo) that come back with a vengence without increasing--if that happens. So far, I'm doing really well, but cautiously optimistic until I can reach euthyroid and my optimum dose. As we all know, it is a very long process and patience isn't my virtue, unfortunately. But, I am learning and thank goodness my husband is the patient one who keeps me in line.

Just a quick note to say hi!
Hi Laura. I actually increased the Armour. I was on 90mg (from 60mg), per the dr, and then after two weeks I had to increase it by 15 mg. Haven't called the dr to tell her yet, because I know that I will have to increase it another 15mg in about a week or so. Learned a lot about Armour from Stella and another website. The increase every two weeks is how the med is supposed to work until you have reached your optimum dose. I think I may be getting closer to my optimum dosage--I hope. I am also splitting the dose like everyone suggests. 90mg in the a.m. and then 15 mg at noonish, sublingually, which also seems to work better. What dose are you on now or did you go to Synthroid??

Hi Laura,
Things are going okay on Armour. The first week was horrible. I started on 30 mg and had daily fatigue, headaches, brain fog, elevated heart rate and felt swelling in my face area. The 2nd week I was on 60 MG for 3 days and got heart palpitations. The doc had me go down to 30 mg and spilt the 30 mg into 15 in the early AM and 15 in the early after noon. Durring that time I felt better. Now this past week I have been on 30 mg in the am and 15 mg in the pm. What a difference it made to split the dosage. Now I don't crash in the afternoon like I did on Levoxyl. My highest dosage on levoxyl was .125 mcg and I never felt good.
Saturday I will up the Armour to 30 in the AM and 30 mg in the early afternoon. I will let you kow how it goes.

I just did some reading on Cushings disease. Did you get your test results yet?
07/08
Hi, Lynn. It was good to hear from you. The sleep issue is unchanged and I am really tired. But, I am doing pretty good on the synthroid. I guess. No palps. I am starting to feel a little brain fog though. Hoping I can get my levels tested before too long, and maybe increase if needed.
Hopefully the armour will kick in soon, and you will be feeling better. Just be good to yourself. Rest and try not to stress to much. Easy to say, so easy. But so hard to do. I am finding though, that I have to. Thanks!! Peggy

Did they increase your dosage after the first 2 weeks? I am still on the same as I started out with- the 30 mg. I have to wait 2 more weeks for labs. I am so anxious to get those done to see where I am!! Have you ever had your ferritin tested? I read on another site that many people with thyroid problems also have low ferritin levels. I had mine checked and sure enough, I was low. Good luck getting that dose increase. My doctor wont increase without labs. It sounds like your doctor is way more thorough than mine though!
So today I am really frustrated with the weight gain. I started weight watchers last week and I am praying that it helps. Lord knows I havent been feeling well enough to exercise!
Hope you feel better tomorrow!! Thanks for checkin' in!!

my testing has all come back normal at this point...although i still don't feel well. All my labs are back within normal limits. The dexamethasone pill is no big deal. I did a 1mg pill at 11pm and then had my blood draw at 8am the nect morning. I supressed and then followed up with another 24 hour urine and that one was normal. We still don't know what was going on. Let me know how you make out.

Just a quick note to say hi!
I called there and they said that I have to go back to my primary care doctor to have the adrenal tests, that they don't test for adrenals. I am getting tired of the runaround.
07/08
Thought I would pass on I have another throat infection. I have had these off and on for the last five years. My tonsils are swollen:( and I really did hurt my foot last week. I am off to doc tomorrow so that she can get me into an ent! fun

I can relate. I have had CFS for so long that I don't know what it is like to be healthy anymore. The good news is... I'm on a treatment that is helping me. I feel like I am actually healing now and no longer popping pills (steriods, HRT, etc) to get by.
I'm not sure what your symptoms are, but I did see that you are a member of the EBV community and thyroid community. Do you have chronic EBV (or CFS) ??
07/08
I am glad your dr is treating your adrenals. Mine spoke to an older endo, and he said there are no issues from the adrenal glands. So, I have been treating myself with adrenal supplements, 4 gr of vit c, selenium, and zinc. I have an appt in mid august with an endo.
07/08
Tired today. I think those probiotics are kicking. I have a rapid pulse all day, palpitations were a minimum. I took an hour nap. Trying to wake up positive. Kinda helping!

Hey Laura!! Yeah, it seems like the crash is over, and you know what??? I am wondering if it has something to do with my periods. It seems like I was having extreme PMS and then I finally did have my period and it has been so bad.... I dont know if this happens to you, but I get the heaviest periods that pretty much keep me down for 2 days. Another one of those lovely symptoms of thyroid disease.
Thanks for asking, it is so nice to have someone to chat with who is around my age, and going through the same issues. How funny that we both were put on Armour at pretty much the same time.
So how are YOU feeling? I see from your posts that you had a few good days and then not so good... I am sorry to hear that. Keep me posted.
07/08
So yeah I am back to normal, for the minute. I think it passed, for awhile. I am calling doc to have tsh levels checked, cholesterol, and iron. I am dizzy and forgetful. Right side of body is numb. I don't know if i can keep working I feel as tho im a zombie.
07/08
Thank you for everything!
Thanks for checking on me. I had to have my doc increase my Armour dosage to 90mg, was feeling too hypo after 2 weeks on the 60 mg. I seem to be doing a bit better, day 6 of the increased dose. My breathing/lungs are improving greately and I was able to clean some of my house (lite work) today. I think I'm getting a little better every day, but I can still tell when I over do it! But--I started pretty hypo-with TSH at 28--3 weeks ago now. I am getting back to myself more and more each day and not too foggy now. I think it will work well for me. Stay in touch and I hope you are doing well on Armour too!! Its much better than synthroid!

Did I mention, That I have carpel tunnell and tarsal tunnell??? I saw a podiatrist who wanted to run these tests back in nov, I felt as tho I couldn't even walk! Do you have panick attacks, or are you just used to them??? I can literally see my pulse on the right side of my throat just pounding. I am calling doc tomorrow.
07/08
Yeah I know, I think Im going to ask for a referral. I had an ultrasound done. It is the left side. I do have a sinusinfection. Hashi is back grrr. I have upped vitamin c. Using vitamins three times plus probiotics. There doing a scope next month. I think my cholesterol is up going to ask them to check iron, cholesterol, and calcium. Any other ideas???? Thanks for your help!

Well, I was just taking my night pills, probiotic, and was eating a snack with it, I started to choke. I have a large goiter, underneath. Doc asked me if it was bothering me, i said no sometimes it really does, why does it feel as if tho food is getting caught in it???? I start having my panick attacks. I swear it gets so big sometimes, I can feel it trying to choke me. I don't want to not work, but i tell you it *****. Im almost to the breaking point. Im only 29. Why does this come on mainly at night?
07/08
Glad to know im not alone! Are you working right now? My feet are bothering me lately, but they have shrunk back to normal. Yeah I had the day off, and got paid! I asked my doc about switching to armour, and she said not yet! Are you having a biopsy done on your nodules?? I swear im only 29, adn feel like im 60. I have noticed a big change with those probiotics. I woke up with sinuses draining mad today kinda fun. What brand are you taking?? I appreciate all the help
07/08
Hey I don't think you told me what you had hypo or hyper???

Just a quick note to say hi!

You deserve a big bear hug! Hey, I got some sleep last night. Finally found a pill that worked! Praise God.....
thank you for your encouragement and thoughts. Those things keep me going.......
Blessings to you today for a happy 4th
07/08
hi, I left a note after your post on my journal entry. If you get a chance, stop by and read it. You are such a blessing and I am so GLAD you are feeling better.....
07/08
I got switched over to Armour because no matter what my TSH was, I was still very tired. I even had it down to .09 and still felt bad. I was really hoping this Armour thing was going to work!! Hopefully it is just a dosage problem....
07/08
Thanks for the kind words.
06/08
I am so glad you are getting your cortisol level checked. That should help in knowing how to treat you. Take care, and thanks.
Peggy the zombie...
06/08
What are you taking for your Adrenals? I will try anything.. What type of testing do I need for the adrenals???
06/08
I had the cortisol and ACTH done.. I am doing ok.. I should by tomorrow. I had a TT done in March and it clearly states on the Synthoid bottle...do not start until adrenals are tested!!!
