Just a quick note to say hi! Well hello. It's been forever since we've chatted. How are you doing? My life is just bumbling along with the usual ups and downs. Still stitching, still have the dancing heart but it's not so bad.
Glad you have some items ready for stitching. I'm doing a bit of cross stitch but no big items like quilts. Way too hot for that. And I bought material for a redwork series I want to embroider and make into a quilt. Again, not the weather for that. Our Spring and early Summer was quite cool. Now it's suddenly turned hot. It will be 102 on Thursday. I'm not happy. Then again, come October it will be frosty again. Take care of yourself. Thanks for leaving out water for all the little strays. They get hot too.
You are so wonderful/kind to stay in touch. Interesting year so far with hubby's mom dying early this year, now his Dad is failing fast: health and mind. So sad to see since he's such a sweet man. Still caring for my mom whose mind is slipping but she refuses to admit her confusion. Our cat finally lost her battle to cancer this Friday, died on my husband's birthday. The next morning our DIL went into labor and we now have a new grand daughter: Phoebe Cora. Interesting name combination. That's my life in a nutshell. I'd love to hear how you've been. Health, activities, sewing? Hugs.
Thank you. I'm doing OK. Just one of those stinky heart days that pop up now and then. Too much stress at home. But I can't avoid life, can I? I'll finish up some stitching and start on a couple of baby quilts for my new grand children soon to arrive. That will be a nice distraction.
A hospital trip? That's no fun. I do hope it isn't anything serious this time round. Life is interesting (a nice way to put it) here. Our daughter is having a high risk pregnancy again. My mom was real rude to my husband twice on the phone and we had to deal with her bad attitude. I fell today and smacked my face on the ground. I discovered my head bounces quite well. :-) Now I have a headache and various bruises. A good excuse to stay in and stitch. You take care, rest and stitch too. I'll be working on a redwork quilt this year. I have 2 baby quilts to finish first.
Just a quick note to say hi! and to see how you are doing :) I have been busy getting sicker and going to the Doctor almost every week so I haven't been on lately...but I'm back!
Thank you for the information on the material. I agree, stark white fabric doesn't look good to me for embroidery. I like the softer off white colors. I use my glasses, a magnifier and a light to stitch on linen. I'm so afraid one day even those won't be enough and I'll have to quit. I do quilting and can crochet but needlework is my favorite. I'm so sorry about your MIL passing. It sounds like she had a peaceful last few days. My MIL was very cranky, never liked us and yet when time came near, she wanted us to be there. I don't understand but I'm glad she's no longer in pain or unhappy.
Thank you for the note. It's been a rough couple of weeks with the travel through the snow, being with my MIL as she dies, doing all the paperwork and so many other things that went wrong. It was almost funny. We're home but still running into problems. Again, all I can do is laugh. My heart doesn't agree with me so I took my medication yesterday. Now I have a headache but my heart is quiet again. Hubby is taking care of my Mom today so I have a completely quiet day to myself. BTW, what fabric would you use for a large redwork embroidery project? It's an alphabet that I want to make into a quilt.
I haven't been on in a while but I'm back I will check your response...thanks for your help
Thanks for the new year's wishes. I'm hoping for a better year. This one has been a bit stinky. My goal is to stitch more and complain less. LOL I hope it works. Happy new year to you and a happy heart.
Thanks. We may actually have sunshine today. That will make it a nice day. Going to an apple festival with the grandkids too. Lots of apple tasting and fun.
Your Christmas wall hanging sounds wonderful. I'm rather partial to sparkly bits. And it's a good size, big enough to see and enjoy without having to devote a whole wall to it. You said it was a gift for someone? I think they'll love it.
I popped over to Craftster but I have to register to see anything so I went on to something else for now. Perhaps this morning I'll check it again, register and see what that young woman is up to. You're right, her symptoms sound serious. If I was puffy like that, I'd at least call a doctor. Silly young woman, thinking nothing bad can happen to her.
Sometimes when I'm on Yahoo checking some things I'll see your name pop up as being online. I'm tempted to drop a note and say hi but again, don't want to be intrusive. Your quilted item sounds sweet. But is it small? I'm trying to remember what you said now. :-) Memory is going along with my knees and hips. I've never visited that website, sounds interesting. I'll have to see what all they do. Perhaps I'll see you there. Do you share photos of your work too? On About.com/cross stitch we share a lot of pictures. Very encouraging. Sleep well.
You're so good about writing. I think of you now and then but don't write because I figure you may not want a long distance stranger for a friend. Yeah, poor self esteem here. LOL Things are fine I suppose. My Mom needs more and more help due to her confusion but refuses to go to assisted living. I calm myself by stitching every evening. Today I'm working on framing a beach scene my husband stitched. I'll post a picture here when I'm done. What would we do without our creative moments? How are you feeling? Is life running smoothly for you? Thank you for staying in touch. I like to hear from you but feel free to chat more. irene
Not to be a pest but which rose pattern are you making? A free pattern you found online or one you purchased years ago? Which colors will you use? I check Mary Corbett's blog every single day. The things she makes are so wonderful and I dream of stitching like that. But my eyesight isn't as good as it used to be. She just finished a mini project stitched on 40 count mesh, stitched over one. Wow! Hope your heart is well behaved. Mine does what it wants and I try my best to ignore it. :-) I'm so happy to hear you're stitching again. There's great comfort and joy in creating. Have a wonderful day.
Good Morning! So glad to hear your doctor is staying on a while longer. When it comes to the heart, we reach a point that we feel safe with our cardio who has treated us well. It's hard to change. Hospital trip? Oh no, I hope it wasn't anything very serious. Then again, I guess people generally go when there is something serious going on. :-p Hope you're feeling better now. Me? Same old stuff - take care of my Mom, take care of grandson, take care of animals. I do squeeze in some time for cross stitch and quilting. Won an embroidery kit from Mary Corbett at Needle 'n Thread. Very exciting. Also had 2 photos published in UK magazines. :-) What have you been doing? Any warm weather yet? Still rain and clouds here. Always enjoy hearing from you.
Thank you for dropping a note. I'm doing fine. My family has some issues: my Mom's mental state is failing, our daughter's marriage is all one sided since he does nothing - no work, no help around the house, at times doesn't even want to drive himself to places. It's hard to watch that. Otherwise we're fine. Have our first 2 grandchildren now, born last year. Lots of fun. I'm stitching like crazy. I even got brave and bought a small piece of needlepoint canvas. I want to try that for fun. Made a quilt for a friend (it's in my photos). How about you? Has the weather been horrid for you this year? Ours has been great but all over the world others have been overwhelmed with snow storms. I hope you're well.
