Hope you feel better soon! You should be still under and have the benefit of pain meds to help as I write this. I've been stable. The daily pain med has been helpful and of course does nothing for the underlying MVD.I still love the nitro and as you may recall I had little to no response from Ranexa. The girl that Emory sent to me for assistance with manageing her MVD has done well. She has gone about 11 weeks now w/o an ER or hospitialization.I'm trying to get my house back in order for a quieter Fall. What are the diet restrictions? Joan.

When I sit or lie down quietly, my heart rate is in the seventies...normal. When I get up to d anything - go to another room, change the bed, water the porch plants,do dishes - it speeds way up. The doctor told me that this is my body's response to the low blood pressure. With pressure of only 88/43 or so, my heart is going fast to try to send more oxygenated blood out to my body. Makes sense, but hope I will be able to control ot better.

Thank you for the best answer to my problem. Yes, I have checked the monitor. You also encourage me too move my appointment with the cardiologist up...which I did. Thanks so much for the best answer and the most insight and help.

Thanks!  Forgot to mention, my profile picture was taken in front of the Louvre in Paris!!  It was my first trip "over the pond."  I put a few things on my "bucket list," and when I had the chance to visit a good friend in Switzerland (talk about GORGEOUS scenery), I went for it (and tacked on a side trip to Paris).  We had a fabulous time!  Absent the ablations, I'm not sure I would have gone.  I am so glad I did, and I am forever grateful to the good doctors and my friends here for giving me the courage to travel and take a few (safe) risks  :)  Have a fabulous holiday weekend!

Morning
I thought you said in your original note "Plavix or its generic equivalent". I was thinking you knew something about it that I didn't :)) That would be a money saver indeed.

Thanks Flycaster.  Sorry to hear about your most recent incident.  Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

My question on the MedHelp site was related to the experience of my best friend **** -- really --  who had a blockage and emergency angioplasty treatment in late April with no heart damage due to the fast action.  I've since found several articles that further elaborate on the rupture mechanism you mentioned and I keep 325 mg uncoated Aspirin tablets handly for an emergengy as well as take an 81 mg  aspirin tablet each night.   I've read that the fastest way to get aspirin into the blood stream is to chew an uncoated one for 30 seconds and then swallow it.  Thanks again for your insightful response to my question.  Happ Wallace

Hey Flycaster, Glad to hear from you , thanks for the invite. Yep I'm suffering from the AS , but to be honest the pain is not as bad as it used to be , I suffer more from fatigue nowadays. I'm diabetic, but not that bad. My heart is ok. I rarely have the palps anymore. I've been seeing a psychiatrist now for a little over 2 years, best thing I ever done he has me on lexapro 5 mg daily and clonazepam 0.5mg 2 times daily as needed just about all my anxiety issues are history now! We, the whole family will be travelling to Belize on May 27 and returning on June 3, Its my wife birth country, September will be 25 years since we've been married and it will be my first trip there. WE have 2 sons one 24, the other turned 21 today.

OMG!  My only brother and sibling was a guide at such a camp; he married a BC girl, Eileen, who worked there also. He knew the water and fishing. Could this have been Gary A. Dewling????? He would have been younger than you but quite knowledgeable about the water and fishing. Yes, I was a charge nurse; lost a bit of my accent as people wonder where I'm from. You'd probably know as you'd heard it. He was fatter then me but you should be able to see a resomlance in my photo. Lard tunder'in jesus, me son, 'tis a small world! Joan.

Wow! My EF is 70.I like your response to Rebecca. The same as large vessel occulsion, the small or micros are at the same risk so Nitro is an absolute! I've tried(and keep trying) to engage her in dialect as I'm most curious as to what stage we all may be in with this MVD.Does frequency mean worst?Or slight exertion mean worse,or is spasm/dysfunction in  microvessel closest to the ends of the large coronaries? She does not respond but I may scare off newly diagnosed MVD members as I am a little far out with MVD ( Emory's assessment).Happy you do well with newer drugs but it's the old one we love! Good fishing days to you;I grew up in NFLD and have many fishing tales!

Yes, Imdur and Ranexa are very good drugs. I mention it often to people even tho' it did not work at all for me. I've had two trials. Now if we talk about nitro..yeah, it's what pulls me out of trouble and of course I wear nitro patch 24/7. I would not discourage anyone from trying the aforementioned but nitro had better be handy! Joan.

Hope you got my email from a few days ago. A real email, not just a note. That surgery on Monday just sounds creepy, scary. It didn't help that you referred to it as being "fileted." As for the sprinkler, women have intuition, ya know? That's what we call "luck" anyway. Sounds like your squiggly lines must be wiggling the right direction or you wouldn't be going in for surgery. That's good news. Take care my fishing buddy.

Thanks; it's another challenge and just when I was NOT getting used to the other challenge! I do know that there is a strong relationship with predictor of sleep apnea and heart attack, espescially in the prescence of CAD. Joan

Now it's time for me to ask for help. Before I do any posting I wanted to reach out to knowledgeable members: I was just dx'd with severe sleep apnea with 711 apena or near apnea events in 9 hours, O2 down to 75% and episodes of not breathing for up to 34 secs. I have had no sleep complaints. Yes I have CPAP now. My question: have you heard of any relationship with cardiac microvascular dysfunction, nitric oxide issues associated with sleep apnea? I remain nitro dependent. Thanks Joan.

Just a quick note to say hi and say this is Joan in Carolina. I see and enjoy your posts. I'm sending you this as I would like you to read about my cardiac MVD. Your recent response to a lady made me think that you would be ideal in picking up some things from women heart issues especially and that you could refer them to my journal here at 'joanincarolina'. I try to keep up with the posts but on my 'not well' days, I need a back up to get this information out. Thanks for your help. I'll answer your questions if you have any. Joan.

Hey Bruce!  So great to hear you're feeling all "charged up" with more energy.  Your new job sounds great--a great fit for a guy who has "been there, done that and that and that...."  hahaha!  Thank you for the kind comment on my family pictures. I am truly blessed with a wonderful family.

I'm still working on my online program to learn medical transcription.  I am currently working on session 15 of an 18-session course.  This session covers orthopedics and neurology, so I'm learning lots of new lingo.  Cardiovascular surgery in session 17, and I am told it's tough.  Despite the challenge, I'm looking for to transcribing the cardio reports...crazy, huh?  I hope things continue to work out well for you!  Here's to vacations, fishing and a great new job!
