Just a quick note to say hi!  Well, to make a long story short, I haven't had any luck getting a referral to see a Dr. for FMS--yet.  Interestingly, my GP recognized more trigger points in my ankles that I don't think she noticed before.  I sure wish she would send me to an expert to do the trigger test, but I do feel that she is at least not being dismissive with me.  You aren't kidding about the side effects to the Tramadol.  So far, though, I'm at a loss as to what else I can take for the pain--which kept me awake all night again.  No surprise to anyone with CFS/FMS.  I can't take opiates at all, because those make me feel a whole lot worse than this Tramadol does.  NSAIDS are out due to recent kidney issues.  Tylenol makes my head feel strange in a way I can't describe--more than foggy

Just a quick note to say hi!Hello, what is your mental nerve, is it something in your Jaw, and do you have to have surgery definately in a couple of years? It's a long time to wait, if you're in pain, isn't it.It's hard coping with constant pain, mine never goes away, my dr just seems to put everything down to the fact that I have fibro, and back problems.Gonna be a great week, going to dentist again on wed, have a dental abcess, and have to have nerve drilled out, and some kind of bleach put in for two weeks, before he can fill it!!Boy, am I looking forward to that, it doesn't even hurt that much, only occasionally when I bite down, am more worried about sitting in dentists chair for a long time, will never get up again!! hope you're having a good weekend, tc,Carole.x.

Hi Simmy, how did things go yesterday? Ok I hope, did you get any answers. No the thing I've got, meralgia paraesthetica, is when one or both or your outer thighs (both in my case) have numb patches, mine go from my hips to my knees, and you have stabbing pains and icy sensations, it happens when I'm standing up, and walking! It's a real pain 'cos it really limits how long you can stay on your feet, it's caused by nerves that go through your groin being trapped, worse if your overweight, and I am, so need to lose some!! Maybe what you have is sleep paralysis, is it when you're waking up, and you can hear and feel things, but not move? I used to get that a lot, apparently it's when your brain wakes up before your body---wierd feeling, speak later,Carole.x.

hi Simmy, nice to speak to someone before bedtime! Thanks for your answer, yes, i'm in Bradford, for my sins----it's nowhere as bad as portrayed on news, at least where i live which is 4 miles between bradford and halifax, it's quiet round here, though the city centre isn't as good as it used to be.Still getting over the flu bug, though I did have a flu jab in november, but you can still get it only not as bad. You seem to have had a bad do, having two different types, with not long in between---it seems to take forever getting back to what we call normal doesn't it. I have fibro, and back problems, and something called meralgia paraesthetica, aint life a joy!! Still, have happy home life, and two grown up kids, got to have something to be thankful for, have a good day,Carole.x.

Hi,just been reading posts. om fibro forum,It would be great if a bllod test was devised to definately prove if it's fibro. or other multiple conditions. Yes when I go swimming--call it swimming loosely! I do a lot of floating about, and panicking in case anyone swims into me, Come home with wet hair, and feel exhausted rest of day (and day after) Was going to try to get back tio it this week, but been in bed with flu type virus all wekend, and just pottering today. By the way,I'm another Carole, and live in england, so time wise, we should be on the same wavelenth hope you're having a good day, Carole.x.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind when I go see the doctor today.  Last time I tried to get her to refer me to a rheumatologist, though, for some reason she wouldn't do it.  I do know that she will refer me to see a GI again, though, since I'm having such obvious colon distress, which should alert her that a rheumatolotist really is in order this time, too, because that's one of the big symptoms of CFS/FMS.  This time it is far more than IBS and is very likely Colitis.  Tramadol only helps with the pain, but it doesn't touch the cause of the pain.  The side effects from the Tramadol are rather unpleasant, too, but they're more tolerable than the colon pain.  If I'm doing everything right with my diet to help my IBS, it really doesn't make sense that I'm having this much trouble with my colon.

Thank you for all of your help with giving me the info i needed to get through earlier today. And, sadly, i was diagnosed with fibromyalgia this morning...my doc didn't even go through all 18 points, he went through 10 and told me that was all he needed for his diagnosis. Thanks again for the support and I'm pretty certain that i will be looking to you for more answers! God Bless!

Well, I've noticed many of these symptoms for years, and I have a friend with FMS, so I knew what some of the symptoms were.  I just never had any information I could work with and had no idea how to do any of the necessary research.  I mean, one expects for doctors to know at least something about these illnesses.  Unfortunately, my PCP doesn't really know enough.  I don't know how to prod her into referring me to see a rheumatologist.  Fortunately, I finally got her to send me to see a neurologist, because I've had symptoms that led me to wonder if I was having absence seizures.  The doctor thinks I'm having more migraines than I'm even aware of.  Well, at least I'm finally seeing a specialist who should know something about CFS/FMS, and for a change he didn't dismiss it right off.

Isn't this website great for connecting with people who understand and can give helpful advice, too?  We have many other ailments that are the same or similar.  Maybe not everything, but enough to certainly have empathy for one another.  I'm still trying to get the official diagnosis of CFS/FMS, so my doctors and I will be on the same page.  Well, you know what that's like.  It's important, so I can get the right kind of treatment.  I'm just glad that these illnesses are finally starting to be recognized as real illnesses.  But, it's still too easy to get overlooked and dismissed.  Everyone with these illnesses knows all too well what I mean here.

I just read some of your profile.  Wow, you sound an awful lot like me with the number of afflictions you mentioned.  I have serious TMJ dysfunction, too.  Usually it isn't extremely painful anymore, but only because I've learned to avoid the things that aggravate it.  Dentists don't want to touch me even for a dental cleaning, because I have such a hard time opening my mouth as wide as they want me to.  Those are the times when my jaws really ache.  I've noticed lately that I can't open my mouth as widely as I used to be able to, too.  Fun, right?

Just a quick note to say hi!
Thanks Simmy for the welcome.  I went to see an ENT consultant as I have a deviated septum and thought it was just sinus problems but I have just found out after years of suffering that I have trigeminal pain and TMJ problems too.  So now I am waiting to see a Max Fax consultant and a head scan.  I have other conditions too.  I have just been finding out a bit about these things and reading other peoples stories.

Just a quick note to say hi!  hi, i just read your comment on the jealousy journal.  i think you were very rude.  first of all it was a woman writing it and not a man.  second of all this is a support forum, not a place where you should just be rude.  sorry if i offended you but rather than be rude you could have just not posted.

Thank you for the kind thoughts!  I'm excited, but also very scared about the prospect of being a grandmom.  They were pregnant about 6 yrs. ago and lost the baby.  I'm just praying God blesses us this time and she will carry the full 9 mos.  Hope you had a wonderful day and stay safe.
