pb95It was picked up at the 20 week ultrasound. They noted that his right ventricle was larger than his left (which is usually slightly the other way around). At his birth he had larger than usual PDA, VSD and ASD which didn't close in the first few days as they usually do. His right ventricle wall is also a little thick and bumpy. He was tachypneic in the first few days and everyone panicked and thought the worst. It turned out to be not related but they had us thinking the worst.
pb95He had his PDA closed at 18 months by catheter and the other two holes closed on their own. He still has a narrowing of his pulmonary artery and a slightly thicker right ventricle, but he is not restricted in any way and lives a normal life. He is still seen every few years by a cardiologist.
pb95My little advice is that eventhough it seems really serious because it is the heart, and so hard not to worry, try to appreciate the good news of the day and not worry about the future!
nola0805... more closely. But in most cases the baby is fine, which is reassuring. Fingers crossed. I have my ob appointment tomorrow and will find out more.
KylieRMs_mommaWell good luck with everything! I'm sure everything will be fine but it's good they are monitoring it. They have to monitor Kylie's growth because she might be growing to fast which may result in preterm labor, which we obviously don't want :/ it's scary!
Alexis2358Just to give you a little reassurance....my co-workers wife had the exact same thing. Their daughter is now 3 and is beautiful and nothing went wrong. Have faith :)
