I'd love to 'get my life back' also. I'm 48 and have felt the pain for 30 years. When I tell the docs, "my kidney hurts" and point below my rib cage, they just say, "that's not where your kidney is."
FINALLY, after searching for YEARS for the answer, I recently found 'nephroptosis.' I also now have a CT scan from March and an MRI from August showing my left kidney clearly in 2 different places. (I had the MRI the day after I learned about 'nephroptosis', and then layed on a decline for a couple of hours before the scan -- it relieved the pain alot, and put the kidney in it's proper location).
I'd like to know which University/Dr. you had surgery with. After seeking help for 20 years for the pain, I am very leary of having just anyone deal with this.

I went today to the Uroloog and told her that I have muscle cramps, she told me that this is not related to a floting kidney. I saw that you had muscle cramps as well.
Did that disapear after surgary?
