One doc said sotalol, another says Flecainide. Both say 1-3 percent risk. I am worried about the Flecainide because it has been shown that scar tissue increases risk of death with this drug. I've had some pretty serious ablations....80 burns, some cooled tip which makes the ablations much larger. Moreoever all 80 burns have been in one area. To me, it seems as if that many burns would be getting up to the size of a myocardio infarction scar. The doctors at Mayo did not want to try Multaq right away because it would be an off label use. They wanted to wait until December to try it. (Political) I think that will be my first try. From all the research I have read, the drug is very safe. Thanks for the response. I'm really hoping I can get my doctors to prescribe me the Multaq soon. I'm currently taking atenolol, been on beta-blockers for about 12 years. I have not tried any anti-arrhythmics because I have always feared the pro-arrhythmia chance for a condition that is not life threatening. I've had six ablations though, the last one being an epicardial. The first was for SVT which was cured. Doesn't look as if ablation with ever work for v-tach or PVC's so I am looking very hard at drug possibilities.

How is the Multaq working for you? I am trying to get on it for NSVT and PVC's as an off label use of the drug.....hoping it is similar to the effects of amiodarone w/o the side effects. I would love to hear how the drug is working for you. Moreover, if you ever get PVC's, I'd love to hear how it affects these.

Do let me know how you are progressing on Multaq. I, too, have had 3 ablations and a pacer implanted.over the past 3 yrs. My golf clubs are gathering dust in the garage but I am going sailing this weekend. Let me know in a week how Multaq dosing is ciming. Thanks, ksig
