About Me: Female, 32, Suburbs, MI, member since Sep 2009
I'm Hillsy (or Hillary if you like) :) I am a mother, wife, pet mommy and pet foster parent & volunteer for the Humane Society, an animal rights and human rights activist, a former medical assistant, veterinary assistant, and have been a few other things, so I have some
[More] experience working in multiple fields including the healthcare field with people and animals! I was studying to be a herpetologist, but since there aren't many jobs in the biology fields anymore I've switched majors to my second love, Psychology! I have many interests, dreams, and goals. I have pet/foster snakes, dogs, and cats. I'd like to have more snakes, an iguana, and a cockatoo, maybe even a couple more BIG dogs! I love family, animals, kids, outdoors, travel, GOD, and Life! also have quite a few different health issues and am a part of multiple communities here at Medhelp as well as a community leader in 2 of them, Dermatology and HS (Hydradenitis Supporitiva).
I have HS, a VERY painful chronic skin condition that causes large painful cysts/abscesses on multiple parts of the body including but not limited to the underarms, breast, groin, and butt areas and often lots of scars :/ I also have minor eczema (as does my daughter), and scalp psoriasis.
I suffer from fibromyalgia, bulging/herniated discs, osteochondritis disseacans & ortho arthritis in my right ankle, all of which cause chronic pain (as does my HS). Many treatments have helped me with this and I have a better quality of life because of it.
About 15 years ago during childhood I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, OCD, phobias (quite a few), agoraphobia, and PTSD. I've had some form of anxiety for as long as I can remember, even though the diagnosis didn't come until middle school. Thanks to therapy and proper medication, I would consider these disorders "in remission". I love being able to come on here and get and give advice. I love learning from others on here and it also helps me when i can tell someone else what I have learned. I'm also an addict in recovery. I've done inpatient and outpatient treatment, cognitive behavioral/talk/group therapy, support groups and NA/AA. Because of these things, I live well today. My substances of choice are out of my life. I think the addiction was a symptom of deeper issues, my chronic pain and anxiety.
I also have sleep apnea & use a CPAP, occasional insomnia, ADD, chronic digestive issues including Irritable bowel syndrome w/ constipation, a urinary tract disorder, and some other stuff, some adult acne (due to the HS), chronic fatigue syndrome, and there's probably some health issues I'm forgetting to mention, so if you have a question about something I haven't mentioned, feel free to ask! If I don't have the answer or experience with it, I will help you find someone who does or somewhere to find the answer! I have had a miscarriage and dealt with other hard things like death in the family, infertility, etc. You can vent to me, ask me about my experiences, whatever helps! I love to chat about sex, health, fitness, diet, pregnancy/TTC/labor/birth/babies & child care, and all the other things I research for my personal well being and that of my family and friends, so feel free to contact me about ANYTHING, not just things I've mentioned!!! To close, I love this site and the people on it, and have learned a TON! I'm so grateful I came across it 5 years ago while looking for information on anxiety. Finding Medhelp was truly a Blessing!
*ANY AND ALL responses and advice I give in forums, emails, etc is JUST opinion, I'm NOT a doctor and can't give diagnosis or tell you how to take or ween of meds, etc! I will give you info on my experiences, research, and any other tips I have that may help you, but I always recommend seeing your doctor for any health issues!*
"Mania is bad for me because of the money spending and I can see myself treating my family poorly. Yeah I have great energy and get really motivated, but my loved ones suffer and I know it. Right now is a "low", high anxiety, irritable, a..."
