About Me: Female, 67, Leesburg, FL, member since Feb 2016
I'm a college graduate and was a professional working in social services, medical social services, education and counseling/teaching areas. I was having a hard time after coping with ovarian cancer and chemo in 2000. In 2005 I came down with Epstein-Barr while I was mov
[More]ing across the state of Texas from Corpus Christi to El Paso, no less. In San Antonio I got a deer tick on the back of my knee. I found it when I showered after arriving in El Paso. Before I could catch it, it went down the drain. I got the target rash. I got sick again. I lost my balance, kept falling. I felt like I was being attacked with so many different pains that were playing musical chairs, loss of memory, balance, sleep that was crazy and narcoleptic. The list went on and on. My family thought I was going crazy. I blamed it all on chemo with Mono. I asked several Dr.'s to write an order for Lyme tests. They laughed at me. After some time, I paid out of pocket. But as the years had gone by, I don't know if it made a difference or not, but the first assay was neg. Then the Western Blot was neg. Now I'll try the CD57 +NK and see if that shows anything. All I know is that I walk and quack like a Lyme duck and have for 10 years. Yes, there is a huge population of white tailed deer in Texas. They were transplanted for hunting into the green parts of Texas and they are causing wrecks in San Antonio the city all time! And they brought Lyme with them. Doctors act like primates about this. I have been diagnosed as being Bipolar with General Anxiety Disorder and Major Depression. After going through deadly cancer scares, chemo, mono, relationship breakup, moving and unable to work because of Lyme that I was supposed to be imagining...I think I was angry, afraid and depressed. Thank you!!!
