Just a quick notHey, I have just seen your note- even though you posted it some time ago already. I took it as reminder to write a post to everyone in the doxy-forum, though. That's where you can read my update. Regarding research, I have been able to only talk to a couple of dermatologists, pharmacists and hematologists and oncologists that I am friends with. They all have never heard about Doxycycline having this side-effect but admit that it is because it doesn't list hairloss in their sideeffect-list.e to say hi!

They also admit that it makes perfect sense for this drug to cause hairloss. Surprisingly oncologists did so without hesitation. It's because they have to deal with the sideeffects of chemotherapeutic substances all the time. Some of those substances work by the same mechanism that Doxycyclin does.
Well, I haven too seriously pursued my goal of proving the link between Doxy and hairloss. However, I have done thorough research on alopecia areata, hormone related hairloss and other causes for hairloss- finding, that definetely none of it has caused my hair to fall out. And why look for another yet unknown cause, if it is so likely that Doxy caused it... Perhaps your hairloss is not even an issue any more after all this time. But if it is, don't hesitate to write to me. Stef

That posted twice for some reason, sorry. I told the doctor this and he said that it couldn't be because 1. It doesn't fall out that quick, it happens over the course of years and 2. They can tell when it's male pattern baldness. In male pattern baldness the hair falls out and another hair grows back, just a smaller version of the hair, like the hair people have all over their body. If the person doesn't have those, it's not male pattern baldness. If you're worried get your doctor to check for it, but I think it's definitely not male pattern baldness. Sorry if my situation doesn't apply to yours. Plus, stop stressing and looking stuff up on the internet, the stress only makes it worse.

Hey, saw your question to me. I went to the doctor shortly after I posed that and got all my bloods taken and everything like that. My bloods came back with nothing which would be a precursor to hairloss. Anyway, I made another appointment for a couple of weeks later to see if they could find it then. By the time I went back, it had stopped, or at least slowed, I can't quite remember.
The doctor said it was probably falling out because of stress from planning my overseas trip. He said it can take a few months to react and can come from situations that are seemingly not stressful. I was scared I was going bald too as I have male pattern baldness in my family. I'll continue in another post.
