About Me: Female, 56, Port Angeles, WA, member since Mar 2014
I am a happily married 49 year old woman with a very supportive husband (thank God)! I have 3 children and am a grandmother to 2 wonderful sweetie pies. About why I am here on Medhelp. In my 20's I suffered from panic attacks. Amazingly, they disappeared for 20 year
[More]s and then resurfaced in 2009. At that time I worked in a high pressure work environment and finally left in 2011 due to anxiety and chronic pain. During those years of work, I was in & out of the E.R., back and forth to the doctor. I was put on antidepressants (effexor) and (lorazepam) to help with the anxiety, and was told that all of my physical pain was due to my anxiety. I know how addictive lorazepam is and so I used it very sparingly. I felt better just knowing I had it in my purse. The effexor seems to help with the anxiety, however, I still have the occasional panic attack. Daily pain includes but is not limited to: bloating, chest, breast, under breast, constricting pain across top of stomach (due to bloating, I think) neck, shoulder, arms, hands, elbows, upper back (right side mostly) mid back, lower back, legs, feet, restless legs at night, hard time falling asleep, daytime fatigue, very stiff and uncomfortable in the morning.
I am hypothyroid, type 2 diabetic (metformin) and have acid reflux and take medication for that. I have read up on Fibromyalgia and have mentioned it to my family doctor, and he just thinks it's anxiety. I live in a small community and would have to travel to the city to see a rheumatologist and at least get checked for that.
I am just sick and tired, and tired of it! I need real help. I would like to go back to work to help our family budget, but cannot imagine feeling the way I do and trying to get up in the morning to do it. Like I said, my husband is very supportive and we get by and he doesn't mind, but I would like to help too so we can have a little bit more breathing room.
