Dogs or Cats?

Question

If for some reason, you were only allowed to have one dog or cat (Only one pet in total), which one would you have? Why?

Dog!
Because that's what I have now.  I could never give her up.
Besides, dogs care about their people.  Most cats merely tolerate us.
My dog gives generously but she also demands things from me.  That keeps my focus turned outward.  She encourages me to never give up.
I just never had a cat do that.

we think i'd have to go with dog on this.. we have had cats all these times.. and if it was a small dog and easily trained to be a help dog that would be great.. cats are hard to clean up after cause the lifting of their litter box.. its heavy for us to be able to lift..

I hate to say it as I have a wonderful yet predatory cat who found me and I adore her ...but Dogs are easier to look after in my opinion and as animal lover I find it hard when she has brought in 'critters' humming birds ,which I have saved, and other little creatures.I think I can also take dogs with me in the car cant do that with a cat .I do think that cats are very intelligent and smart My Tweety is the apple of my eye ..but I am a dog person .

I really love both cats and dogs, but if I had to choose, I would say a dog. Why? Because I believe you can do a lot more with a dog, and they are more willing to cheer you up when you are down. I had several dogs and cats over the years, and I loved them all. However, it seemed like my dogs could sense how I felt and tried to cheer me up more than the cats. The cats did make me laugh a lot though. :) 

It's a hard choice, but I would have to say dogs.
