4 1/2 year old recently diagnosed ADHD

My son was recently diagnosed ADHD at the age of 4 1/2.  I'm not familiar with early childhood and ADHD and could use some suggestions or reading material how to help him and us as we adapt to this.  Any suggestions?  The doctor told us he puts the "h" in adhd so the hyperness is really there as well as the spontanious and he's an only child to boost.  Please help:)

Both of you definitely need to start researching.  You might try reading "Driven to Distraction" by Hallowell, and "The Gift of ADHD", by Honos-Webb.
I noticed that in the Child Behavior forum (you might want to check it out), that  Dr. Kennedy  recommended  parents to "obtain a copy of Lynn Clarks' book SOS: Help for Parents, and follow it to a 'T'. You will be very glad you did. This practical and sensible guide to managing behavior will be a tremendous resource for you throughout your son's childhood years."
