Focalin XR and my 6 yr old boy.

My son has been an active child since he has been on this earth but since he has been in school he isn't able to calm himself. Last year ( his kindergarten year) he wet and soiled his clothes often.He walks around his classroom, he talks out of turn and cannot focus on the task at hand.  The teacher and counselors asked me to get him tested and I did I just never went back for the resutls. This year he is still not focusing but no longer wetting, although he does still soil his clothes maybe once a week. So the teachers asked me to get him checked, this morning was his first treatment of Focalin XR and I am a nervous wreck. Is anyone else child on this? I just want my son to excel, is this really the way.

My son is 11 years old.  He's been on every kind of ADHD medication imaginable.  They would all work for a little while then most would stop working after he grew or gained a little weight.  He is currently on FocalinXR and has been for almost 2yrs.  He has fewer side effects and more success with the FocalinXR than he has on any other meds.  The only thing that concerns us and the Dr. is the fact that he's not gaining enough weight.  Keep an eye on your son for that.  Good luck.

my son has taken Focalin XR for 1 1/2 years now. He is almost 13 now. we have tried many meds and this has been pretty good so far.
