Problems

Hi This is my first question on MedHelp :-)  I take Adderall 10mg XR.  I just started taking it 2 months ago.  I also am bipolar.  I had finally got that under control when I wanted to address my ADD.  Well it seems to work on several things but I don't feel as happy as I did and it makes me very antisocial.  Also I have been kind of obsessing about things.  I really think I want to go off of it but it will suck to forget everything, not sit still more than 10 min, not finish anything and not be able to concentrate.  I don't know.  Any suggestions?

Thats not what taper off means.  If you stop some meds quickly, you can suffer side effects.  Google the phentermine to see what I mean.
Point is - don't know if you have one, two, or three docs - but they need to know what you are taking.
And its possible the Adderall could help you lose the weight.  I think in some ways its safer then the phentermine.  But, the two maybe should not be taken together.

OK  So I'm not taking the Adderall anymore.  But when I lose the remaining 12lbs, and stop the phentermine, are you saying that I'm going to withdraw from it?  If that happens, I will kill my doctor!!  I told her I was an addict.  She knows this!!!!   ****!!

You notice I said to taper off pentermine.  There is a reason for that.  If you have AD/HD you don't have to taper off adderall.  Pentermine side effects say to not drink coffee, Adderall does not.  You may have felt like crap because you stopped the pentermine.
You need to talk to your doc.  The problem quite possible could be the interactions of what you are taking.  You really sound like you were over dosing and I think that could have been the drug combo.

Well I have an appt. tomorrow instead of two weeks.  I'm going to stop the Adderall.  I noticed today that it made me feel like crap. I never took the pentermine today.  I just started taking Adderall when the problems started.  I threw it away today.  I'm not trying to get depended on it anyway.  I lived with the symptoms of ADD all my life.  I can handle them.  The only thing I really hated was I couldn't remember things.  Thank you though :-)

Your diet med is also a stimulant.  The two together might be the problem.  You might try tapering off the diet med?  Do talk with your doc!

First off that is a heck of a profile name! lol  Anyway I have tried dexedrine and that made me not want to say a word and I almost was in tears 3-4 a day.  I sort of forgot to say I was on Pentermine(diet med) too.  The compo does not make my heart feel like it's going to blow up, so I didn't think that would be a problem. But thanks.  I'll see how it goes until I see the doctor and change it.

Amber,

You can always try a different type of ADD medication--I know there is Ritalin and Dexedrine if you're going for another amphetamine. There are also some other non-stimulant ADD meds out there too that might work better for your situation. XR 10mg seems like a decently low dose so maybe it's just the Adderall that isn't mixing right with whatever else you're taking or your brain chemistry.

Keep trying until you get it right--you should't have to settle for one thing or the other.
