Very non-compliant

A friend of mine has an 8 year old daughter diagnosed with adhd.  She is on medication but I'm not sure the name of it.  In school she refuses to do her work, she refuses to do her homework.  Homework last about 3 hours, however she only has about 1/2 an hour of work.  She has this attitude that she doesn't have to do what everybody else has to do.  When everyone else in her class are doing their work, she just sits at her desks and disrupts the class.  We are at our wits ends and don't know what to do.  She does go to a after school program, but because of her not listening she's been threatened that she will be kicked out of she doesn't behave.  The beginning of the school year was just fine, now all of a sudden she doesn't want to listen or do what she's asked to do.  What can we do?

The meds that she may be on may not be the right one for her.  Talk to the doctor and discuss it.  The doctor should be following closely. Did this behavior start after she started the meds would be my first question?

I know my son who also has adhd would be non-compliant because he coudln't focus long enough to understand the directions in school.  He would get angry and frustrated and not follow the instructions.
