an other thing to consider is finding what i call the window.    there is a window for meds that have to do with adhd where if your in it its like a god send your not.    if your above it or below it the medicine can make symptoms worse, but if your in it its amazing.    one of the beautys of most meds for adhd (at least the amphetemines which makes up the bulk) is that you don't have to wait and see the affects for weeks at a time.    for the most part you can tell exactly how the meds will act in the first day or two.    so what i would recommend (under doctors supervision of course) is to get as small a pill as you can find for that medicine then tweek it till you can find theright about.   say you start on 5mg but its not enough, the next day try maybe 15 mg but thats too much the next day try 10 and it may be the window.   my recommendation is to do this with different types of meds as well like for a while try concerta then try ritalin etc.   you get the idea.    no on med works for everyone so try them all under doctors supervision.   also if you can o to someone who specializes in add/adhd please do so, many pediatricians don't know as much as i believe that they should about adhd.   so look around, and dont give up hope.

You could also try a yeast cleanse detox and  low carb, no sugar diet as an alternative.

watch them close with theAdderall .
My son age 5 was on Adderall for one month and I refused to give him anymore of it .It intensefied all of his symptoms by 10. He became so moody that he would cry for hours on end over losing a sticker. He became aggressive and was hitting bitting and throwing thing at people .He quit talking  he became withdrawn and non responsive to people around. It took his awesome smile away from him .I call Adderall the Devil's Medicine.
Trevor now takes Concertra ER 27 Mgs along with his Risperdal 2 mgs twice a day and he is doing so much better . I hope this was helpful for you .

thanks so much, yesterday was day one on the med, they seemed to be doing fine right this min. my oldest son came in from school and said mom, i did great in school today , even was good enough to get my name on the bord for a prize fri. only effect i seen i didnt like is it made him really groggy, they got him on 15 mg, im thinking about asking if they can drop it to 10. my youngest son is on 10mg. hes been moody, i dont think the meds are for him. thanks for your input, if this doesnt work out ill ask my doc about that

Hi cindy I also have 2 boys adhd 17 and 14 years old they are now on 72 mgs of concerta which I think no medicines are 100% cure all but can be better than none. They were diagnosed years ago and also was on adderall it made them angry and aggressive, concerta has worked much better also tried straterra was the drug from hell for my 14 yr old he also has impulse behaviors you just have to go by trial and error what works for one does not work for all. I also find that after take a medicine for a while the dosage is no longer effective or the medicine itself is not seems like an immunity can built. Any way hope this helps.
