adult add

was wondering if adult add goes un detected for quite a while, its just i suffer with anxiety and have been told its a side effect of add or adhd, i have always been quite hyperactive as a person and as a young person was very unruly and troublesom and did not quite understand why i was like that and why i was doin things wrong, i always have compulsions to get in trouble and still do, i also suffer with a bad temper but i dont mean to have these outbursts they just happen!!

I was diagnosed untill I was 39, I agree with Mizzigie because I was a girl, girls usually do not tend to be as hyper as boys, it was never suspected, the modd swings etc were put down to hormones, you know somehing is not right but youare not quite sure what, my typical school report was talks to much in class etc I could not work out why I was bored easily changed jobs constantly, being on meds for me was the best decision ever, I have been more settled and have actually stayed in one job,

i wasn't diagnosed until i was 47!  had all the classic symptoms and a learning disability related to memory, but because i was a girl, no one ever thought about add or adhd.  i was just labled as lazy, daydreamer, not trying, etc.  keep ur spirits up....see a good therapist....see a good psychiatrist who can decide if meds are 4 u.
