hyper active? adhd?

I have a 6 1/2 yr old daughter.  She is the middle of 3 girls, and always seems to run off of a motor...never ever stopping.   This week we have gone over her reading homework at least 2 times every evening, and she took her test today on it, and got a D-  I don't understand, and I don't want to just put her on meds for the rest of her childhood.  I was wondering what everyone thought about the possibility of a food allergy?  I have heard of this, but does it really make kids off the wall like my little Cressa is?  I have gotten the Conners rating scale from our doctor, but haven't filled it out yet, should I venture down this avenue as well as the allergy road?  I'm not sure what to do.  Does anyone have any advise for me?

My advice is dont put her on any of the Drugs and do some research about them, your little girl may simply have an exubrant personality, why would anyone put their child on mind altering drugs to get them good Grades? My real advice is get her on a good Vitamin suppplement with BComplex and anti oxidants, also a fish oil capsule , she wont have the night mares and the acting out behaviors thats the big drugs side effects  have, and she wont have a label that follows her all her life.
