Interesting, I don't see any thing in the side effects causing a hyper activity kind of thing.  Typically, if a child is not getting enough sleep, I think it effects their attitude more.  although I have seen studies that say lack of sleep makes ADHD worse.  Just not sure how it makes it worse.
Is it possible that the med is making him feel better and he is reverting back to his more normal ways?

Thank you for your advice . He is a very active child . He goes from the time he wakes up till he goes to sleep. I know most of the side effects but didn't know it would effect his behavior this much.

Wow, we really don't deal with muscular dystrophy here - but this part of medhelp does.  -   http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Muscular-Dystrophy/show/1223  ; so you definitely want to start a post over there.
However, one side effect of orapred is trouble sleeping.  If your child is having trouble sleeping you definitely will see changes in behavior.  Side effects are from here -  http://www.medicinenet.com/prednisolone_solutionsyrup-oral/article.htm
This is definitely something that you want to discuss with your doctor.  I can understand why this drug was prescribed, but it is a powerful drug and you should have been informed of its possible effects.  Especially the effect on the immune system.  Best wishes!
