Hello All, I have been experiencing muscle twitching in my legs (calf muscles mostly) for the past couple of years. It first started after I would cool down after a workout (run) and then eventually it was more or less constant - even when sleeping. I've not noticed any other symptoms in my legs - no weakness - other than a small amount of cramping on occasion at night time. In addition to the above, over the last couple of months I noticed what I think is some weakness in my right hand (the dominant one) and to me it looks like the muscles in the palm of my right hand are smaller than my left. I also, from time to time, recently, have what I feel like are swallowing problems with fluids. For example, after I take a few big drinks of water it feels like some of it is in my lungs. This feeling only takes place about 3 - 7 minutes after I drink.
I saw a neurologist in the ER for about 20 mins who did lots of clinical tests on me and assured me I was in good shape and health. To be sure, she also ordered an EMG and NCS this results of which came back normal with no concerns.
Lastly, about 6 months ago I had what the doctors described as an anxiety/panic attack where in addition to the typical symptoms, my hands cramped up.
So, my question is: is it likely that I could have ALS given the detail I have mentioned above? I am a 32 year old male.
Thanks for your help.
Best,
Korries
