I also started with random twitching last Feb. Only I could feel them,no one could see them. At the same time my tongue would tremor so bad my teeth would chatter. I saw a neurologist who diagnosed familiar tremors and she put me on lexapro which I could not take. I had a brain MRI which was essentially normal. I have been having shoulder and arm pain but not weakness so today I am having a cervical MRI. The tongue tremors are now tongue biting occasionally and sometimes I feel like I am drooling or spitting saliva out my mouth.Since I did not feel I was adequately able to express my symptoms to the neurologist and everything is continueing should I request my GP to order me a emg. Would it show anything?Could familiar tremors cause the symptoms or maybe fibromyalgia?
I can't believe what I was reading in your post!! I have some of your very same symptoms, the stiffness (getting worse all the time), tingling hands/arms in the morning and middle of the night, random muscle twitching, fatigue, etc. This has been going on for over a year now, and have not been able to find a doctor that can diagnose my problem.
I have seen a rhuematologist to rule out Lupus (which my ANA is a low pos....so Lupus was ruled out at this time) Have been checked for RA (which is neg.) Have been diagnosed with Antiphosolipid antibodies, and ITP. But, I have been told those conditions should not be causing my muscle soreness.
You mentioned sleep apnea, which I have never had a sleep study to rule that out....but, I do snore very badly when I sleep....which wakes me up at night also. I do not sleep well at all!!!!! You may be on to something here!!
Fibromyalgia has been mentioned, but no one seems to take me serious about that! I wonder if sleep apnea could be the root of my problem as well as yours. It makes sense to me. If one does not sleep well at night...for a long period of time, it seems possible it can cause our symptoms.
I am glad I found your post, because this is the first time I have ever seen anyone post the same IDENTICAL symptoms that I am having, and I have done a TON of research about my symptoms.
Thanks for bringing this up...it will be my next area to investigate!!
Please re-post and let me know what you find out. Also, can you tell me if you are a Male or female? The gender thing seems to also be an issue with Fibromyalgia, and the symptoms we are having!
Thanks and I hope you feel better soon!
