Chemical burn?

I recently bought a new facial cleanser that is 2% salicylic acid. I have used it for 2-3 days and the skin around my eyes and on my chin is red and itchy. Also, around my eyes are puffy and kind of wrinkly. (not normal for me).  This cleanser has cleared up my acne, but the itching and burning lasts all day, even if I only wash my face once in 2 days. Is this a chemical burn and if so, what can I do to fix it?
