skin donation

do doctors or medical students use donated skin for training/testing. and can donated skin be used in other patents eg. skin transplants for burn victims?

Hi there!

Donated skin is not usually used for testing. Donated skin can be used in grafting, though it is often not required, since auto grafts are usually available and tend to survive better than allografts. However in situation such as severe burns, where there may be a scarcity of autografts, allografts/ donated skin is used.
