Methadone Maintaince and Drug Cravings
What is a good dose to be at for methadone maintance? i was snorting 340mg a day of oxy....ive been addicted to some sort of opiate for the last 5 yrs....ive had problems with meth, coke, e, alcohol....ive been going to methadone clinic for 5 mos now...on 105mg a day...still have cravings to use....i thought craving went away if u were on methadone?
I'm finding it difficult to understand why so many people take methadone and suboxone. Once you go through the pain of WD why the heck would you want to reintroduce another drug that potentiates ongoing dependency? At one point I was injecting over 100 mgs of 50:1 Dilaudid daily. Of course the WD was brutal. The pain and restlessness was beyond comprehension. I went cold turkey. When it was over, it was over. I have never looked back. I don't crave opiates because I'm scared to death to go through that again. However I have relapsed over a year later with cocaine (my DOC). Ughhh, I'm such an addict. I have learned that I can't take any mood altering substances. Nothing! I have never drank alcoholiclly. In fact, I may have a few drinks a handful of times a year. But I'm not taking any chances. No alcohol, drugs, scripts, melatonin...not even a gravol or benadryl to induce sleep. I'm just not willing to take any chances. That's just me...
I read all these comments from over a year ago ..i have been going to a Methadone Clinic for 145 days now and I NEVER allowed myself to go any higher than 40mg and as of August 31 I started going down and I am now at 35mg have been for 11 days will begin my 30mg on 9/12 Monday Tomorrow and I have not once had the craving for pain meds I have NEVER felt HIGH on Methadone I just functioned like a normal person again, not being sick able to do anything even sleep.
There is no reason to be on a dose that high in my opinion....I want to live my life clean and the only reason I am on Methadone now is due to all my failed attempts at cold turkey w/d from pain meds,
If you slowly dose down from the methadone once you begin and someone like me that never passed 40mg my detoxing off Methadone is not goin to be this sick horrific nightmare, WHY because I wanted one thing when I began the program to BE CLEAN...
Good luck to all that are trying to live life clean n sober oh I began going to meetings as well whether it be AA or NA GO, work it you walk miles to get high now walk a few more to get and STAY clean???

sub is the same as everything and will get u high but is very good to use for about 10 days during wd period tampering slowly everyday . then ct off sub is a breeze if only on for the 10 days
Well,., I'm not sure if these comments were directed towards me but you DO feel 'high on life' with Subs. No artificial high,. NOT HIGH ON DRUGS AQUARIUS but a surge of energy and interest in life like those who have never done drugs before. It is wonderful. You get your normal human emotioins back.
Being high on life DOES NOT mean being intoxicated. It means,. being 'high on life',. which is what normal none druggie people feel. Maybe your reading too much into this?
And this thread / site is about recovery. Therefore,. helping people make a decisions between the detox drugs available by giving personal experiance is what it IS ALL ABOUT!

Personally,. I would have NEVER found out about Subutex,. and therefore would have not been able to afford SUBOXON if someone hadn't posted about the price difference. So I am just passing along the info.

Not true that methadone worse/lasts longer, subutex just the same if on it too long, sometimes worse. Methadone has 25hr half life, and takes 11 days to turkey, unlike heroin for example only 4 days, but subutex much longer. If you are serious about recovery, you need to either bring methadone down to 35mls/mg a day then jump to Britoflex (UK) or called Lofexidine (USA) for last few days/week. Same advice for subutex start on lowest dose possible taper in 10 days max at a rate of 25% reduction a day, before using bridge BP drug that's un-addictable (like Britoflex/lofexidine). Also note if you want to jump from methadone to subutex, must leave atleast 4 days clearing your system out, or will induce a nasty rattle! No opiate will relieve. Another point regarding being high on life while on sub, should only take enough to make you better, not high (then your abusing, taking too much!)! Otherwise your in for a very rough time - worse than meth! (Although my advice is quick taper on sub, got to be serious though, otherwise stay on methadone maintenance treatment MMT).

Just wanted to inject some info that I seem to have fogotten in the last message. That is $3.66 *a TAB* for the generic Subutex (the lowest price that I found,. as mentioned in my other post here.)
The craving you will have all of your life. It will go and come in it's severity. But I just wanted to give you thge suggestionn of asking your doc about generic SUBUTEX. If he says it is not available,.,. IT IS> I have a bottle of 60 here right now.
Just tell your doc that you can't afford the suboxone and the methadone isn't working for you. Ask him to perscribe you SUBUTEX. The generic. Then you'll have to call around to see how cheap you can get them. First they will tell you they can't get them that it is not available. BUT IT IS. Then you'll get prices all the way up to $900 for 60 tabs. I did. Yes,. FOR GENERIC!
FINALLY I got a rate of just over $3.66.
Kick that methadone, honey (get on subs). It is the worse thing to get off of. The methadone sickness lasts a month,. YES,. a MONTH with no sleep and cramps,. the feeling of dying,. all of those lovely goodies. The only thing about Subs is there is absolutely NO BUZZ! But you'll feel like a kid again. You will fell 'high on life'. Now,. don't give that up before trying it. I thought "**** life" when someone told me this. But it is so true. You will feel like a million bucks once it gets into your system good.

the clinic im going to offers suboxone but its really spendy..im self-pay, no health insurance....so thats why im on methadone....
Has your doctor ever mentioned Suboxone? Answer me if you can. I am here
