New Energy Drug or Bust

My dr at the Methadone clinic gave me a script for Provigil 200 mg ( Generic name~Modafinil ), it comes in 100 and 200 mg. I looked it up on google and it is for narcolepsy, sleep apnea and plain ole sleep disorders like we have. Went to pharmacy and they said it really works for not feeling so tired and it is used by the military for pilots and suppose to help with short term memory ------ now where was i?  It's high dollar, for 7 pills it was going to cost over $ 80.00 . It is suppose to work only in the part of the brain that needs it and not wire you. It sounds good but it is a class IV drug. I would sure like to try it if it really works but have not filled my script yet.

IBKleen~Thanks for all the kind words and yes i know you and didnt you just have a Birth Day. On day 2 of the Provigil trial and my continued quest for some energy,  not much happaning for me yet. I guess to many yrs of unplugging the brain cells that this med has nothing to connect to. The worst thing for an addict is whan you take a pill and nothing happens, makes you want more right away. I took one pill of the Provigil  200 mg a few hrs ago and i am not even close to awake so i took another 100 mg 10 mins ago (playing dr again). I am very let down by this and as an addict dont take set backs well. I had hoped some one else might have tried this med so i had some way to compare the results. I guess the best thing is not to get my hopes up again for another pill to take care of me and stay focus in my recovery. Hope your's is going well also.

I read about Provigil. WOW! Goota get me some of that. Please post and let us know how it goes. It will take a while to work thru your system and, like you said, the Methadone will also take a while to get thru your system. So, don't expect miracales. ****, I always do..LOL..LOL. Only kidding with ya hun. I am one of those ppl who takes one pill and says "It doesn'r work". I tend not to wait for it to work it's way around. I want that quick fix. But this stuff sounds promising.

Hang in there with it.

BTW, for privacy reasons, I had to change my screen name. You will recognize me. How about you go up to the first response to your post. Who sent it to ya?

Keep posting. Waiting to hear how u make out.

Big Hugs, IBKleen

Thank you robin for the info and i was only given 7 so i think i will try and behave myself.. I just thought this med might help some ppl like me who cant rebound like we use to and trying to get out and run or exercise is just not in the cards yet. Alot of ppl wont be running to buy this med at the price of it, i paid $60 for 7 of them from Walgreens and they gave me $10 off from some old ins i had. But if it works than its worth it to get up and do all the things you planned on for the day, now i just sit and think about it. I took my 200 mg a few hrs ago and i am not yawning every two mins,  but i dont feel like running a 6K either. Maybe it's in the 90's outside (TX) right now that i dont want to go out and take care things.

hey, my boyfriend is a pharmaist.  I just asked him about that and he said it works well for senoirs and is'nt so strong as an active amphetamine, but does have a controled lable = it can be addictive.  so tred lighting, but it will work well for sleep disorders.
so good luck, try it.
take care, Robin

In my quest for energy now that the 13 yrs of hydro's, oxy, soma etc are 6 mo's behind me and going on a month off Methadone, I picked up my at for the Provigil and i took a 200 mg pill this morning. The main purpose of this med is to improve wakefulness in ppl. i am waiting for it to work as i hunt and peck. The Air Force is using this drug for the long range bomer pilots and testing fighter pilots for flight time up to 37 hrs but these guys and gals are in top shape already. It said the pilots got three 100 mg doses over the 37 hrs. Now my addictive mind has already figured that since the pilots are in shape and i'm not in shape so i need more pills to work than they get ---- what a sick mind. They are trying to use Provigil instead of ritalin & adderall because it's less addicting.
It's not the 60's speed some of us remember and there's no euphoric effect but says it works with your (glutamatergil ciruits) amino acids to provide metabolism. It has been tested to help ppl recovering from coke and amphetamines to fight their addiction. If your like me, i am deperate to get some strenght back and get rid of the fatigue & i know eating right, rest, vit's and exercise are the best way to get in shape, but when you have not done these things for 15 - 20 yrs or more, it's hard to get the couch potato out of you. Got info from wikipedia when i googled provigil.  Let you know if it's works and see if i can improve over my typing of 3 or 4 works per min.

Yea the drug sounds to good to be true but after you read about it you are going to want it. I have been off the M'done for over 3 wks now and was discharged from the clinic yesterday, so no going back there. The main thing is i am just dragging all the time and i just need to scrape up the money to try this new med. I sleep at nite for the most part and wake up like it's still 2 am. I'm sure there plenty of M'done left in my system. Glad you are getting off the Sub before you have to depend on that to function. It will be nice to just get all this **** out of our systems and get on to the real things in life, for me thats getting by old job back, a car that works all the time ansd some teeth fixed before i have to spilt them out ------ sorry thats gross.

What was the question? LOL.LOL

Geez,, sounds like something I need. Memory? What is that?  I am going to look it up right now.

So nice to see you hun! How have you been? BTW, are you off the meth? It has been a while since we chatted one on one. I pass you in the nite, but not directly. So, what is going on? How do you feel?

What was the question? LOL  (I am so silly today, don't mind me). I took my last Sub today so I am anticipating the weekend. Actually, since it has a half life of 24 to 60 hours, I am playing the waiting game. I am excited, anxious, half nuts, fully nuts, and obviously forgetful.

Great to see ya.  Hope to see your post again.

Big hugs, Bonnie
