ADDICTION

In case you have forgotten....
I am your disease...
I Hate meetings...I Hate higher powers...I Hate anyone who has a program.  To all that come into contact with me, I wish you death & I wish you suffering.  Allow me to introduce myself, I am the disease of addiction.  I am cunning, baffling, & powerful.  That's me!  I have killed millions & I am pleased!

I love to catch you with the element of surprise.  I love pretending I am your friend & lover.  I have given you comfort, haven't I?  Wasn't I there when you were lonely?  When you wanted to die, didn't you call on me?  I was there!  I love to make you hurt.  I love to make you cry!  Better yet, I love to make you so numb you can neither hurt or cry!  When you can't feel anything at all!  This is true gratification!  And all that I ask from you is long term suffering.  I've been there for you always.  When things were going right in your life, you invited me!  You said you didn't deserve these good things, & I was the only one that would agree with you!   Together  we were able to destroy all the good things in your life!  People don't take me seriously.  They take strokes seriously, heart attacks, even diabetes they take seriously!  Fools!  Without my help these things would not be possible.  I am such a hated disease, & yet I do not come uninvited.  You choose to have me.  So many have chosen me over reality & peace!

More than you hate me, I hate all of you who have a ' Twelve Step' program.  Your meetings!  Your Higher Power!  All of these things weaken me, & I cannot function in the manner I am accustomed to!  Now I must lie here quietly.  You don't see me, but I am here, growing BIGGER & STRONGER than ever!  When you live I may only exist.

But, I am here...
Waiting, Growing Stronger...
Until we meet again,  If we meet again,  I wish you Death & Suffering!!!

As ever & always,
Your Addiction

PS:  there are some of you that may find this harsh!  Addiction is harsh!  Any addict will tell you every word of this is true!

That tremendous writting was POWERFUL !    Thats the kind of power we need to kick our addictions. And I, myself find it here through MedHelp with all of you individuals.  I haven't logged off this site since I joined June 18th, 2009. I read and read and read. And I get smarter everyday. And stronger. If I am feeling like **** I  write about it in my journal.  I've never done that before and it is helping me.

The higher power element of addiction treatment needs to go, especially in court ordered cases. Also, to tell people they have no ability or means to conquer their addiction does more to hurt than it does to help in my opinion. The episode of South Park where Randy becomes an alcoholic outlines this perfectly. Once he's told he has a disease and has no power to beat it, he buys into it and does nothing to help himself.

Every word is true and everyone needs to read this,  even the ones who are dealing with loved ones, as it can tell them how awful addiction really is!

Thank you for sharing......  gosh I remember the first time I read this writing,  I was bawling like a baby (altho trying to hide my tears) and my daughter, the addict, as with so many other insidious things in her life, she didn't bat an eye....   Not sure her mind could comprehend  or if she was too obsessed with finding her next oxy....

I agree with you,  the words may be harsh,  but for a hard core addict, I am not sure I have ever read anything more true, Altho  I do think,  and only my personal experience, it was a lot of in patient and out patient care, in addition to  a 12 step program and other medical treatment that got my daughter off the road of addiction destruction.  And the real key,  is she wanted to be sober.  Not for me, or her dad, or the rest of the family, she was truly ready to give it up,  because she knew it was killing her, and she had lost all control to the drug.

I am a big supporter of Al-Anon, AA or NA, however; there are a lot of different addiction w/d and sober  programs,  please never stop searching until you find the one that works for you.
