ANOTHER POLL -- EARTHQUAKES? HURRICANES? TORNADOES? WILD FIRES?

Thank you to all of you sending your best wishes.  I've gotten so many messages from concerned members.  A lot of you say that you'd never live where there are threats of hurricanes.  So I want to take a poll.

What is your greatest fear?  Where is it that you would NOT live to live because of these forces of nature that has catastrophic consequences, such as avalanches, earthquakes, floods, forest fires, hurricanes, lightnings, tornadoes, tsunamis, or volcanic eruptions?

I'm scarred to death of water spouts.  When the dark clouds start coming in from the gulf you had better watch out.  I've been so close to them before I could see the water raising up from the ocean to the sky.  Also, lighting is very dangerous here in florida.  I know more than a few people who have been struck twice.  But it doesn't keep me off the water only more aware of what could happen.
Hurricanes are no picnic but at least you can get out of their way and pray for the best.  I honestly feel peoples pain when I know they are going to get one.  Been there done that and it leaves a never ending impression in your mind.  You can not fully understand the devestation until you've lived through one.

I wouldn't want the major tornado stuff. We do get them here in Fla. but I think there wussy tornados compared to the ones around tornado alley.
The increaseing amount of natural disasters are due to global warming. We all must pitch in and do our part to stop/decrease this. Recycle, go green, work on alternate energy sources. etc.  Every little bit counts.

I used to live in Port St Lucie and Jenson Beach in Florida, it was the threats of evacuation and the Hurricanes I hated most and leaping out of the Pool everytime a crack of lightening and a crash of Thunder came from nowwhere,it actually didnt drive me away, the Fire Ants did and the inhumane treatment of the Gopher Turtles, that were consistantly buried alive by Contractors, even though the Turtles are a protected species what happened was the contractors merely got fined big fines ,and paid them.I became weary of coming home and having to desperatly try to dig out the Turtles buried in this way , contrary to belief they cannot dig themselves out from Tons of Dirt. The same Year after we left to come back to Los Angeles, Jenson Beach and Port St Lucie were hit by Hurricanes twice!! that was about 5 years ago.I prefer Earthquakes.

hey i live in tornado alley and love it lol.   But...i definitely wouldnt live on a coastal area that gets hurricanes. Just too risky to lose your home, every belonging and even your life possibly. Plus I just dont like water, LOL.  I seriously dont like the ocean. I like forested areas, i need lotsa trees around me.

If i did move somewhere though far from here, id probably pick either Minnesota, Washington State, Oregon, or Montana.  Or Colorado, lol.

Hmmm, I agree. I think earthquakes are worse because they're so unpredictable. They can just happen, whereas with tornadoes, hurricanes and wildfires you usually have enough notice that you can get out of there.

I think earthquakes scare me the most. I can handle hurricanes with stuff being blown around, but the thought of having the earth move below my feet. It just gives me the he be je bees !
