Addicted25 - Tapering question

Hey there - I read a post of yours via another 'title' - but thought I'd tell you my plan so far which has provided some excellent results.  I was on 10-12 Vicodin 5/500 mg tablets a day - and decided to start tapering 12 days ago.  Since then I have SLOWLY tapered (withdrawn) either 1 whole tablet or .5 tablet a day to get to where I am today:  1 total tablet.  I've only had 2 cravings and MOST of the withdrawal symptoms throughout the week - but none the last two days.  I have used this forum for a TON of ideas and expertise - and I believe whole heartedly that my success so far is due to the forum chat support, the support of my boyfriend, and sheer will determination.  I also plan to go to an NA meeting this weekend - and start counseling next week.  I know the chances of relapse are high - thus, I need to continue my support via the forum, NA meetings, and counseling.  Make sense?

You're starting the right path - you just need to put it in place.  One of the things I got a 'natural' high on was seeing that 'I can live without this .5 tablet today' and drawing a line through it on my to-do list.  My personality trait shows that I need to see accomplishments and results - and that alone helps me stay motivated to kick this.  I wish you the best of luck - let us know how you are doing.

Yep - I'm down to '1' and haven't had a craving for 3 days.  The withdrawal symptoms have dissipated completely (this morning).  I haven't had the edginess, am able to concentrate on the 'wine tasting' I am holding on 12/14, and overall feel 'really good' and proud of myself.  I went in to this thinking I wanted to do this successfully the 'right way' and not relapse.  Not to say I haven't tried to throw myself a curve ball by thinking about a desired dental procedure "what will I do in pain?" - but figure I have a nice smile and will just have to wait to see the Dentist when I am stronger - perhaps 6-12 months out (if I'm lucky).  We'll see...

Thanks for your support and your 'atta boy' - it means the world to me...I'm glad you stepped outside to get past the craving.  Perhaps you can think of it as '1 down', only X amount to go! and then you'll go to the next exciting step (at least for me) and become the energizer bunny.  I've got TONS done this week!
