Are "notes" necessary?

I recently caught some flack from a member about a note that I sent to a third party on med help. The recipient of the note didnt mind it at all, but the third party flamed me to the point of saying that I disrespected this notes recipient and my own wife of 25 years. (I wouldnt be married 25 years if I did).

Forum posts are public and are meant to be. Only in this way could it serve its purpose. PM's are private and between sender and addressee - How much effort and cost does Med Help devote to duplicating these resources - and why duplicate them at all? A post is the best way to communicate with absolutely everyone. Med Helps PM's are quick and private. Notes? We dont need no stinkin notes.......

I agree 100% about the notes..I have definately been guilty of using them alot lately being in the depression that i have been in but commenting on posts,journals and writing pm's are purposeful,thoughtful, and much more personal..And why does the whole forum need to know when someone recieves a note..except the person getting it? Do away with the notes..i will try my hardest to get back to being personal..(i am going to break my habit there too)

Just to add another bad thing about the notes......you never know when you have one.  It doesn't show in your inbox.  The can get easily ignored and people think your rude. lol
I also think theres too many places to post comments. Comments on journals, comments on pics etc... I think too much is getting lost in the shuffle.

I am jealous!  u have not sent me a note!  LOL...no dont...i dont really like the note thing and have not used it anyway....it is impersonal like a text message or something...i will stick to pm's...the notes are so short...how could someone get mad?  weird

Bravo Eagle,My biggest concern is the moods(where some are screaming for help) seem to get lost in all the notes ,yes they are cute but I do not want anyone to fall thru the cracks.I also feel the warmth that this forum had  has been missing since they started ,for some it seems to be a popularity contest ,but only my opinion.OPPS I did it again
